The 24th Gippsland Rotary Golf Classic was held on Monday 25th March, 2024 at the Yallourn Golf Course and attracted a full field of 108 players for the 3 Person Ambrose competition.
The format for the day obviously appeals to our golfers, as the capacity limit for the event was reached by late February and as usual there was an interesting mix of corporate teams, social golfers and self-confessed golf fanatics playing on the day.

Congratulations to our major golf winners:

Winners: Todd’s Mates (Todd Malone, Chris King and Joel Poole) with 55.16 points.
Runners Up: Rookies’ Royals (Bill Williams, Dennis Hicks and Loretta Booth) – 57.16.
Third Place: Moe Racing Club (Gerard Hayes, Graham Geisler and George Jamieson) scoring 57.66.
Best Ladies Team: SDS - Sue Caldow, Donna Mellon, Samantha Caldow

The Rotary Claude Staff trophy was won by the Alan Bishop, Roger Taylor and Jordon Snowdown representing the Rotary Club of Moe.

In the 8 weeks leading up to the golf competition, Rotarians were selling raffle tickets as part of this major fund raising event for the year. Raffle winners were: 1st prize - I. Taylor ($2000 Lakes Entrance accommodation package); 2nd prize - J Morrison ($1000 home goods package) and 3rd prize - S. Plemper (Samsung Galaxy Watch). Proceeds from the major raffle, corporate sponsorship and individual entry fees together with auction sales and donations amounted to in excess of $21,000.  This amount will be distributed to a variety of organisations and projects.

We express sincere thanks to the Yallourn Golf Club, staff and members, all players and sponsors on the day and to our Rotarians and Friends of Rotary for their considerable input throughout the past couple of months.
