Greetings to members of the Moe Rotary Club!
On a personal note, I am pleased to announce the arrival of my newest grandchild, ‘Freya Jean Debenham,’ who arrived much earlier than expected. She is now doing very well and has regained her birthweight (2.6kg). Her parents, Ellie and Tom, are adjusting well to parenthood, just a little sleep-deprived!
I am continuing to isolate myself so I can help my daughter, and mother-in-law, and thank members for their support. Many thanks to Past President Helen Morrison who has agreed to step in for me at face-to-face gatherings.
With approval from the Board, (during a special online Board meeting held on the 10 January), a Zoom license for two operators has been purchased for the club to use over the next 12 months. Thanks to PE Robin Noakes for running the hybrid meeting on Monday night and to Roger Taylor for overseeing the face-to-face meeting held at the RSL.
I believe the meeting went well and those present, either virtually or in-person, enjoyed the opportunity to meet and enjoy fellowship. Details regarding the Golf Day and raffle arrangements were discussed. Great work Roger and Maureen! Thank you to members who are assisting with raffle ticket sales; and to Bill Connell who is coordinating the raffle.
Monday 31 January is a ‘fifth Monday’ so it will be a social night. Secretary Maureen sent out an email advising a social partner’s night has been organised by Rog Taylor.
Venue: Apex/Lions Park, Waterloo Road Moe
Time: 6.00pm onwards
BYO: Partner, Food, Drink, and chairs
Congratulations to John Hutchinson who has achieved 40 years of service to Rotary. Fantastic effort John!
Lastly, an update regarding our Christmas Hamper. I met with Ian Hardy from St Vincent de Paul (Moe) on the 15 December and handed over five hampers for distribution to local people in need. He was thrilled to receive the donated goods from Rotarians and asked me to pass on his thanks to all members.
Stay safe everyone till I see you all again.
