NEWS just in, from Facebook!
Polio Ambassador (and survivor) and professional golfer Jack Nicklaus led golf lessons with Rotary Foundation donors at an event that raised US$5.25 million for our work to end polio. https://www.endpolio.org
(Its not just about how much is raised, its also about how much fun they had! Did they also have a wandering drinks cart? Could they afford the services of a Robert Sim, auctioneer? We too had excellent golfers in attendance, in John Hutchy, Alan Bishop, Bruce Paull and the soon world famous Di Harrison, to name a few! Be humble, RC of Moe! Well done!)

How well prepared is your business to respond to more frequent and intense extreme weather events, such as extended periods of heat, bush fires and storms?
Building business resilience is the focus of an annual fund raising dinner to be held by the Rotary Club of Warragul. The dinner, to be held on Monday 1st April, will enable businesses attending to network, hear new ideas and contribute funds to a worthy local cause.
This years recipient is the Neerim District Soldiers Memorial Hospital. The money will contribute to the cost of installing new energy efficient heating equipment that reduces costs and environmental impacts.
Forty per cent of businesses fail to open after a disaster. More frequent and intense extreme weather events are presenting increasing risks to communities. Businesses play a critical role in supporting their communities during emergency response and recovery. Business continuity and resilience planning can make a significant difference.
Guest speakers Victoria Chantra and Allan Klindworth of AECOM will share two approaches that have been used to support business resilience to natural disasters. They will draw upon their experiences working with communities following natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and devastating bushfires in Tasmania.
The Rotary Club of Warragul thanks AECOM for providing their expertise free to support our local community. AECOM is a global network of experts working with clients, communities and colleagues to develop and implement innovative solutions to the world’s most complex challenges. Interested businesses and others are invited to get behind Rotary in service to their local community.
Booking early for the dinner is encouraged as numbers are limited. Bookings can be made through Eventbrite or by downloading the invitation from the Club’s Facebook page. The clerk looked up Knicker Stitcher on the computer and finding it classified as unskilled labour, awarded Paddy $180 a week as unemployment pay
Mick was next and when asked his occupation, replied "Diesel Fitter"
The clerk looked that up and found that diesel fitter was a skilled job and awarded Mick $360 a week
When Paddy found out, he was furious. He stormed back into the Centrelink office to find out why his buddy was collecting double his pay
