President's Report (ghosted by RT in President Lyn's absence.)
Rotary Junior Community Awards:
The first of our two Rotary Junior Community Award programs was conducted at the last meeting.
15 out of a possible 16 participants presented a brief account of their personal Rotary journey, which is surely a school record.
(Upon his return Robin will provide a running record of presenters from each school, however we do know that ESPS has by far the highest student representation over the years.)
The school community was also really well represented with strong parental and staff support. Six staff attendees, including Principal Ian Frost, indicates how ESPS values this program.
Many Rotarians commented on the more thorough preparation and oral presentation this year.
An obvious improvement in future is to move Rotarians into the audience so that they can both see and hear better. Footnote:
Our next RJCA event is on 26 October. There will be 7 ASPS and a single SSPS students relating their RJCA stories.
Roger attended the Willow Grove PS assembly on 16 October and presented Angus James with his RJCA certificate.
Guests Acknowledgements:
1. It was pleasing to have Bev partner Bruce Paull for the third successive club meeting.
It's always wonderful to socialise with Bruce on his southern visits and Bev provided a meaningful insight into her involvement with the View organisation.
She also told us of her club's success in the Christmas gift wrapping program, and the resultant boost to club numbers via this promotion.
2. Again we had the pleasure of the company of District IRO Alma Reynolds and Greg King.
Together they highlighted district updates as well as the Gippsland FM's Moe Rotary announcements which have now commenced.
