A depressing start to the weekend with the announcement by our Premier Dan Andrews regarding new stage 4 restrictions which took effect from midnight on Friday through until midnight on Wednesday.
Victorians will only be allowed to leave their homes for four reasons: shopping for essentials, giving care, essential work and education, and exercise for two hours per day with household members. Masks must be worn everywhere.
With this development, I so appreciate the special time we all had together at the Moe Hotel on Monday night. Little did we know what was around the corner!!
I think this is how the year will roll so as a club, we need to be agile and respond to quickly changing conditions. Luckily, we have a Zoom Board meeting planned for Monday! Hopefully we will be able to meet face to face on the 22 February but we will have to wait and see if the lockdown is extended...
This means our raffle ticket sales will be temporarily halted during the stage 4 lockdown. Our hard-working raffle coordinator, Helen Morrison will keep you up-to-date.
On a brighter note, members of the Community Committee, Bill Connell, Alan Bishop and Len Cairns, put in a mighty effort on Thursday. They replaced the colorbond steel roof on the small rotunda in the Botanic Gardens. The next stage of the upgrade is to replace some missing/damaged wood panels and then paint. Thanks to the team for their hard work on what was a very warm day!
Another task that can be ticked off my list is access to a vacant shop to to promote our club. I thank Rob Sim from John Kerr Real Estate in Moe for his assistance. As a result, our banners are on display in the old ‘SportFirst’ windows in George Street, Moe. A key location as it is adjacent to the pedestrian crossing with lots of foot traffic. We have use of the shop indefinitely and rent-free. Many thanks to Robin Noakes who, on his travels through Yea last year, spotted a vacant shop used to promote the local Rotary club.
So my quote this week links to activities undertaken...
“Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible”

As mentioned, we have a Zoom Board meeting on Monday starting at 7.00pm. I will send the link on Sunday night. Thank you to Secretary Maureen for sending out the agenda and supporting papers. I know you have been very busy with admin for the club and I appreciate your work!
Lastly, a quick update regarding the very brief onsite meeting I had with Beth Wilson at the Moe RSL... it looks like the RSL are unable to accomodate us due to the need to use the function room during all meal services. The other room, (where the pool tables are located), is out of bounds due to issues with the floor being unsafe.
So at this stage, we are booked in at the Moe Hotel for dinner on the 22 February for a face-to-face Club Assembly. Members thoughts will again be sought regarding a suitable meeting venue.
Stay safe everyone and take care during this snap stage 4 lockdown.
