Di’s Dialogue #77
The Labour Day Long weekend has arrived! For those members who have a chance to escape, enjoy the break.

We will be having a meeting on Monday night and Golf Committee Chair, Rog Taylor, will run through the final planning details for our major fundraising activity to be held on 28 March at the Yallourn Golf Club.
We will also have a guest. AG Tim Wills will join us for our ‘Long Weekend’ meeting and address the club regarding information to be shared on behalf of DG Bill Degnan.

At this stage, I believe that Monday 14th March could be our last hybrid meeting. The recent COVID19 Omicron variant outbreak appears to have settled so let us enjoy our regular face-to-face meetings before the next wave hits town!

Those who are joining via Zoom will leave the meeting at 7.15pm and those gathered at the Moe RSL will kick on and enjoy fellowship until 8.00pm.

I am pleased that I can finally return to in-person meetings and have the blessings of family members I have been caring for over the past two months. I can report that my beautiful new granddaughter, ‘Freya’ is doing very well, and her mum and dad are coping much better with the demands of parenthood!

Take care and stay safe everyone.

The RSL has been booked for February 28, March 14, April 11 and April 25 (Anzac Day).
My thoughts on this meeting is that we are having so few face to face meetings, that we dispense with the Public Holiday/No Rotary meeting concept, and meet on the evening of the public holiday.
Let me know if I’ve got it wrong, and whether you want me to book the RSL Board Room for 6.30? on March 221 and April 18.

Botanic Garden Playground Maintenance Crew

The Community Committee is calling on all members to volunteer to assist with the clean-up of the Playground.

A volunteer attends once a week for 4 weeks, on a day that suits, to clear the pathways and play areas of leaves and debris, pick up rubbish and do a general tidy up.  This normally takes about an hour or so.  The blower, rubbish pick up tool and bucket are provided by the club.

So far this year, we have had a number of members already volunteer.  If you haven’t yet had the opportunity to assist, please let the Chair of Community, Alan Bishop, know which month you are available.  If you cannot commit for all 4 weeks, please contact Alan to discuss the option of assisting for one or two weeks.

Spreading The Super Mooper Story

More Super Mooper books have been delivered to local primary schools, thanks to the kind donation by author Fiona Harris to the Rotary Club of Moe.  Fiona Harris is one of Australia’s top female performers and writers.
Over the past week the Chair of the International and Foundation Committee, Diane Wilkinson has delivered books to St Mary’s Primary School, Newborough Primary School, Yallourn North Primary School and Baringa Primary School.

The schools have expressed their appreciation to Fiona Harris and to the Rotary Club of Moe for the donation of these books.

The Moopertown story:
Welcome to Moopertown! In Moopertown, everyone is special – in their own special way!

This fun, funny and affirming series will entertain children of all ages.  In each book we are introduced to a new Mooper – Musical Markus, Nervous Nellie, Dramatic Dom, Giggling Gertie, Quiet Quinn and Adventurous Abbie.

With humorous, sweet, character-driven stories and a richly-detailed world that children will engage with, this exciting series celebrates the idea that our differences are what make us unique, and we are all capable of being superheroes when we can see the best in ourselves.
