Presidents for 2025-2026
Len Cairns and Alan Bishop
The Rotary Club of Moe is pleased to announce a shared presidency for the 2025–2026 Rotary year.
Len Cairns will serve as President from July to December 2025, with Alan Bishop assuming the role from January to June 2026.
Together, Presidents Len and Co President Alan are united in their commitment to the Rotary International theme, “Unite for Good.”

Last week we had a small friendly meeting for our club. With so many Rotarians touring
across Australia and overseas as we who remain home freeze in Moe, it has been a time of
conversation and relaxing rather than formal meeting. Our travelers are starting to return
over the next weeks.

Fathers' day will be a Bacon and Egg event at Old Gippstown with Len, Helen Morrison, and
Ross as starters. We are still looking for members to work on the Breakfast R U OK event at
the Yallourn Mine and our other September BBQs.

September is Education and Literacy Month for Rotary International. Be prepared to tell us
what your favourite book has been.

Lyn Cassar is on the mend and is firing up to support our BBQs as usual.
We will meet at the Hotel next Monday to start September off.

Last Bulletin there were some photos of me giving presentations to Rotary Clubs in South Australia. Here is the update.
Over 3 nights, at combined meetings, I made presentations to 6 Clubs.  Rotary Clubs of Goolwa, Strathalbyn, Morphett Vale, Glenelg, Somerton Park and Encounter Bay.
The levels of interest were very high and clubs, in their own various ways, are examining how to support the Wheelchairs for Kids Australia charity. I was given an invitation to make another presentation to Rotary Club of Somerton Park on my return visit in December. The Rotary Club of Mt Barker is going to run its own presentation on 1 December using video and slide shows. It has been a great success, as the clubs were largely unaware of Wheelchairs for Kids, and were very impressed with the over 64,000 chairs already sent around the world.
It is very exciting to report that the Rotary Clubs of Goolwa and Glenelg are each buying a chair for their own clubs to use to further promote the fund raising. RC Goolwa has agreed to act a “Centre of Influence” for the chairs in the Fleurieu Peninsula. This is a new development for South Australia.
The Rotary Club of Echuca are also buying a chair for promotion purposes and have donated 2 chairs for overseas kids.
Our current total to date is 70 chairs.

BUSY TIME IN SEPTEMBER FOR BBQs

September is shaping up to be a busy month for BBQs, with several invitations received for our Club to assist with catering. Your help would be greatly appreciated at the following events:
Sunday 7th September
A bbq at Old Gippstown on Sunday 7th September for Father’s Day.
Thursday 11th September
Energy Australia has once again invited us to cook egg and bacon sandwiches for their RU OK? Day breakfast.
This will require 4 volunteers and a 5 am start!!!!  Alan and Ross have volunteered – so another 2 ‘early risers’required!
Saturday 13th September
We are also being considered to assist at the Ellinbank Football League Grand Final being held at the Trafalgar Football Club on Saturday 13th September.  This would be an approx. start of 9 am through to around 4pm.

We may look at arranging volunteer shifts for this event. At this stage the Bishops will be on duty for the full day – so will be requiring another 1 or 2 volunteers for each 2 hr shift.
Final details are still being confirmed, and I’ll keep you updated over the next couple of weeks.
