Roger briefed the club on the proposed approach to Business/Vocational Excellence award(s) to be held in August. All members are being asked to observe employees of businesses who might be worthy of nomination for outstanding service. Please advise Roger accordingly.
Sandy Auger gave a very interesting presentation on her visit to Israel and Jordan. Being exposed to such different cultures was quite a shock, and Sandy unwittingly walked into men only areas, only to be very quickly put right. The mix of antiquity and modernity, camels and donkeys, and very special visits to holy historical sights left her exhilarated. It was a great relief that she was not exposed to any of the unrest reported from that area. She commented that the media might be exaggerating their reports.
Barry ran the Grumble, with Michael Koch, (who was with us on Zoom) having a $3 win. I was then pleased to present Barry with a certificate acknowledging 25 years of Rotary service.
The first fitting of the BBQ bench was made on Wednesday. It is looking very smart. All members who were able to be there were photographed in a group shot, which allows to publish a record in the annual report. Barry and Alan Bishop are hoping to have electrical work completed next week. The end is in sight. The group shot was before we had chance to fit the bench. The second photo shows that we did get it level!
Several members are attending the Cluster meeting in Traralgon on Monday 15th. This is likely to be very interesting. Please contact Charlie Speirs (0428761435 / speirscharlie@gmail.com) if you are a late booking.
Finally, would you all please consider having a look at our Club website https://moerotary.org/, edited by Maureen. I think it captures the essence of what we are about, and I commend it to you .
