The presentation of Paul Harris Fellow recognition is The Rotary Foundation’s way of expressing its appreciation for a substantial contribution to its humanitarian and educational programs. It is named for Rotary’s founder, a Chicago lawyer, who started our organization with three business associates in 1905. As a club, when we give $1,000 or more to the Annual Fund, PolioPlus, or an approved Foundation grant, we can present a Paul Harris Fellow (PHF).
So, it was with great pleasure I presented Maureen Bishop with a Paul Harris Fellow double sapphire lapel pin to acknowledge her role as club secretary for the past two years. Maureen is also the executive webmaster of Clubrunner and oversees our club website. Both are important means of communication with members, district, and our online community.
It was an overwhelming surprise for Maureen who realised something was happening when members of her family arrived for the presentation.
As second presentation of a Paul Harris Fellow single sapphire pin was made to Alan Bishop to recognise his contribution to the Rotary Club of Moe and the Yallourn Golf Club. Alan follows Rotary’s guiding principles and is committed to ‘Service Above Self’ and uses his technical and practical skills to serve his community, as a Rotarian and President of the Yallourn Golf Club.
Maureen and Alan are also key members of the Golf committee and contribute to the success of the club’s major fundraising day, through their ability to plan, organise and oversee the event.
It was a busy night with a ‘Certificate of Service’ presented to Diane Wilkinson to acknowledge her twenty years of service to the Rotary Club of Moe. A wonderful achievement. Diane was inducted in on 7 April 2002 and served as club President in 2005-2006. She keenly promotes The Rotary Foundation and is currently Chair of the International Foundation Committee.
Certificates of Service were also presented to Maureen Bishop (10 Years) but was presented a year late! Alan Bishop (10 years) and Helen Morrison (10 years). Both Helen and Alan were inducted on the 5 March 2012.
Just a reminder, Maureen has been very busy preparing for our Changeover, could you please let her know if you are attending. She is keen to finalise as much as she can prior to taking four weeks leave.
Can I just say, I am looking forward to Robin’s return!
This week is a social evening at Silvers Bar and Grill in Morwell. DG Bill Degnan and his partner, Judy Degnan is looking forward to catching-up with Moe Rotarians in-person. Numbers were finalised at our meeting on Monday night and many thanks to Program Coordinator, Roger Taylor for organising the evening.
