Di’s Dialogue #92

I got there! Here is my last ‘Di’s Dialogue’ as club President…
Thank you to our bulletin editor, Helen MacDonald, and her four-paw helper, Harvey, for ensuring
the club bulletin was published each week. The bulletin is an important means of communication
for club members, the West Gippsland cluster group of Presidents, and the District Governor. Your
efforts have been much appreciated Helen.

At our meeting on Monday, an important discussion was had about membership, and I again thank
incoming Treasurer Barry for presenting information regarding our administration account and
Rotary dues to Moe Rotarians. Further discussion will occur under the leadership of incoming
President Robin.

It was wonderful to induct our newest Rotarian, Sandy Auger, on Monday night. Sandy was warmly
welcomed into the club by members present. She was introduced to the club by PE Robin Noakes
and Robin shared lovely insights about Sandy during the induction ceremony. Sandy has already
demonstrated her willingness to serve her community and recently participated in our ‘We CAN Do
Better’ food can collection initiative. There is a lot to learn about Rotary, so please help Sandy along
the Rotary path as she begins her journey.

Update regarding the food can collection: how great is our local Rotary family!! Apparently, Albert
Street Primary school have been busy collecting food cans and around five hundred cans were
recently handed over to the Gippsland Christian Church Community Care food bank service.
Elizabeth Street Primary School have also managed to collect another three hundred cans. Both
schools run the Rotary Junior Community Award program and were keen to support Moe Rotary
with the food can initiative. Wow!! What an amazing and unexpected flow on effect but oh so
wonderful for our community.

Our 73rd Annual Changeover Dinner is happening on Monday night. Here is the important
information again:
 At the Moe RSL, commencing 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start.
 A two course menu at $32.00 per head (if paying by cash, please bring a couple of $2 coins
to help incoming Treasurer Barry Dunstan).
 Online banking details for direct deposit: BSB 633 000, Account Number 179 890 769 and
include your name so payment can be identified.

On Wednesday night, I will be heading up to Rawson with Sophie Green (Workways) to introduce
her to young people participating in Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA). It will be good to catch-
up with Sophie!
Whilst Secretary Maureen is away, I have been tasked with following up with members regarding
their intention to continue as a member of the Rotary Club of Moe. Our membership database must
be updated prior to Rotary International issuing an invoice for Rotary dues. Please let me know if
you will not be continuing your membership before 29 June at the very latest. Thank you.
Lastly, thank you all for jollying me along when times were difficult during the past two years! The
pandemic certainly created havoc at times but overall, it has been a rewarding experience. I
sincerely wish Robin Noakes well as he draws nearer to donning the ‘Chain of Office’ and into the
role of Club President.
