Our land abounds in natures gifts,
Of beauty rich and rare,
In history's page, let every stage
Advance Australia Fair!
In joyful strains then let us sing,
"Advance Australia Fair!"
FOUR WAY TEST
1.
Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Len’s Log 28

We started the new year with an excellent BBQ in the Botanic Gardens where we have a significant presence and more to come over future years.

Last week we heard from the CEO of our Local Government region, Latrobe City, and we heard about fund availability to the community from the CEO Gary Van Driel. Gary emphasized that we are a significant part of the City and how all areas should be supportive of the Latrobe City.

We also heard about the Lord Somers Leadership programme from James Hutchinson, Rtn John Hutchinson’s grandson.

Our Charity Golf Day  and our Annual raffle are well under way and our dynamic sisters Rtn Wendy and Rtn Helen are in full stride and on the case.

The Botanic Gardens project is buzzing along with Rtn Alan Bishop working hard.

Our Marigolds Project is now very evident in  in the Council garden beds on Anzac Street and the two roundabouts where annuals are grown each year (outside Albert Street School and the Post Office) They are blooming with bright yellow glow! Our Wheelbarrows are also out in Moore Street and will be till the end of January. I will do a check on any necessary restocking on Wednesday.

Moe Rotary History
HISTORY OF THE ROTARY CLUB OF MOE
Year 1968-69 this year represented a milestone for the Rotary Club of Moe, in that one of its distinguished members, Allan McHardy, became the first District Governor to come from the Club. The Club was led by Jim Lawler with Noel Albury as his Secretary. Club Service Director, Brian O’Reilly, wrote: “During the past year we were privileged to have as District Governor – one of our members – Allan McHardy. Allan applied himself to the task with a great deal of energy, sincerity and experience and an enviable background of Rotary experience and knowledge”. Moe was host Club for the District Conference held in Moe. “This was a Club effort and every member rose to the occasion”. The Conference was a widely acknowledged success with particular thanks due to PP Ludy Kelsen and Rotarian Jack Skelton for their many months of planning and organization. Community Service had a busy year. Two Rotary Auctions raised $968 and a further $1000 was donated to the Hospital Building Fund. The Lloyd Street Beautification Scheme was completed this year with five Working Bees and well over 300 trees planted. Membership 42 Lost 7 Gained 4. Attendance 95.18.

Ross' Joke of the Week
A woman came home, screeching her car into the driveway, and ran into the house.
She slammed the door and shouted at the top of her lungs, 'Honey, pack your bags. I won the lottery!'
The husband said, 'Oh my God! What should I pack, beach stuff or mountain stuff?'
'Doesn't matter,' she said. 'Just get out.'
