Rotary Club of Moe
Fireside Meetings for all groups Monday 7th March
Di’s Dialogue #76
A very dreary start to the weekend with heavy rain, but I am not complaining. My thoughts are with the thousands of people in Queensland and New South Wales who have been seriously impacted by flooding in their local regions.
In my Facebook feeds, I am aware Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS), has set up a national flood appeal to aid flood victims in Queensland and Northern NSW. As stated in the post, ‘Australians impacted by recent floods will be the beneficiaries of money raised by Flood Appeal and will be able to consult with their local Rotary Club to advise of their needs.’
CEO of RAWCS, Andrew Woodward, said ‘The money raised from the Appeal will go directly and quickly to support those impacted, providing essential items and financial support where Disaster relief and Insurance claims won’t stretch. All Australian donations are tax deductible.

Congratulations to DG Bill Degnan and his team for hosting and running an excellent District Conference. Thank you to PE Robin Noakes for sharing highlights during our Club Assembly hybrid meeting last week.
As PE for 2022-2023, Robin is attending multi-District training sessions over the weekend. The sessions focus on the theme for his year which is ‘Imagine Rotary’ and specifically link to effective leadership and the four priorities in the Rotary Action Plan. Well done Robin for stepping up and accepting the role of President-Elect.
I have been asked to promote a fundraising night to raise funds for ‘End Polio Now.’ Pres. Diane Carson (RC of Warragul) is organising a movie night at the Warragul Cinema. The movie is ‘The Duke,’ which is ‘a ridiculously charming British comedy’ and stars Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren. The date for a private screening is Tuesday 15
th March and cost is $20 per head of which $9.00 goes directly to End Polio Now. If you are interested, please contact Diane Carson email
ac.dc6@bigpond.com as soon as possible.
The West Gippsland Cluster meeting was held on Monday evening post Club Assembly. AG Tim Wills has flagged he is keen to attend our Themed meeting on 14th March. It will be our last club gathering before our major fundraising event at Yallourn Golf Club on 28 March. Again, the meeting will be run in a hybrid format, and I thank Robin for lending his expertise to ensure all Moe Rotarians can be included.
This week is the first Monday of the month and is for Committee Fireside meetings. Could Chairs please contact their members and advise them of meeting arrangements.
Again, I want to thank everyone who continues to support our club through various club-related activities and look forward to catching-up with everyone on Monday 14 March.
Lastly, I am thinking of all the cricket tragics in our club who are mourning the unexpected death of Shane Warne. He is being remembered as ‘one of the finest cricketers ever to have played the game.’ RIP Warnie.
Stay safe everyone.
