As advised in the last Bulletin, our Monday meeting on the 1st May was an opportunity to discuss a request from the International Committee to approve up to $AUD3,000 for a relocation of the toilets at the Bunutan school in Bali. The pro’s and con’s of drawing reserves to give support to projects was discussed at length and in the end there was overwhelming support in favour of approving the request. What did emerge was a determination to broaden our income raising base from just the one Gippsland Rotary Classic golf day event. This would make the club more resilient to an
unwelcome fizzle on the golf day.
PE Lyn and I are going to suggest to the club that we start to develop ideas for this to happen and
will be calling for members to join a brains trust for this.
Our guest speaker Jamie Hunt entertained us with his reveal on “The Rotarian behind the badge”.
Jamie’s dry wit was very much in evidence. What wasn’t revealed was that he had a spell in Rostrum,
so the confidence and ease of his presentation should have been no surprise.
The Grumble continues to grow and we await with bated breath the random number generators’ gift
of selection. El Presidente enjoyed his unexpected draw for the second week in a row.
Thankyou Helen Morrison for organising our guest speaker for the 8 th May. We have our own Sandy
Auger talking about her recent trip to Israel. Dave Wood has kindly agreed to present a tribute to
Australia.
Please note the invitation to a cluster meeting on 15th May at Traralgon Golf Club still stands. This will be a chance to catch up with fellow local Rotarians and meet some International Guests who are attending the Rotary International Conference in Melbourne.

BBQ Shelter is approaching the final stages. On Friday the two BBQ stands were wrapped in
aluminium cladding.
Only two tasks remain: the first is the installation of the Tabletops which will be done on
Wednesday. After which the electrician has some final connections to complete, which may be completed this week. After these steps rejoicing will break out!!
To all club members.
The BBQ Shelter is near complete and next Wednesday at 9.30am we are taking a group
photo. Please join us for this event.
