ADVANCE AUSTRALIA FAIR
Australians all let us rejoice,
For we are young and free,
We've golden soil and wealth for toil,
Our home is girt by sea,
Our land abounds in natures gifts,
Of beauty rich and rare,
In history's page, let every stage
Advance Australia Fair!
In joyful strains then let us sing,
"Advance Australia Fair!"
FOUR WAY TEST
1.
Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Maureen’s Moments
#6
Our meeting on Monday was a Partner’s night and it was great to see a couple of members bring along their partners to hear PE Peter’s report on his recent trip to the Rotary International Conference in Atlanta.
We also heard from Community Chair Alan report on the success of the Snow Train fundraiser that was held on Saturday.  Alan again asked for volunteers to assist in selling coffee and soup for next Sunday when the Snow Train again arrives in Moe.
I again spoke on the possibility of holding a Fundraiser Gala later in the year.  Discussion took place regarding the costing and potential funds that could be raised.  After careful consideration, it has been decided to defer this event to say April next year.  This will give us more time to organise and plan for the event.  I will keep you all in the loop as we progress through these plans later in the year and early next year.
Last Wednesday, I attended my first President’s meeting chaired by AG Carol Crewe. 6 out of 7 club Presidents from our cluster attended.  We had a very enjoyable night and exchanged lots of ideas.  Discussion took place regarding the possibility of holding a Cluster event and Drouin President, David, volunteered his club to host the event.  We all agreed to meet again in a couple of months time.
We have a couple of busy and interesting weeks coming up.  Next week, we will all be patting Michael Koch on the back for not only 30 years in Rotary but ‘30 years of 100% attendance’.  A great achievement by Michael but I think I will put the challenge to him to now make it to 35 years of 100% attendance!!!  If anyone wishes to bring along their partner to share this milestone with Michael –please do so and let Kishor know.
Monday 14th August will be our Membership night with a presentation by our Membership Chair, Diane Wilkinson.  This has been identified as an important night for all members to participate in as we need to keep the topic of Membership right up there on our agenda in order to both maintain and increase our membership.
On Monday 21st August we will be welcoming District Governor Don Ripper, his wife Jude and Assistant Governor Carol Crewe.  Don will be meeting with the board from 5pm to 6pm and then will join us for dinner at 6.30 to meet all members.  He will be updating our club on information from the District and Rotary International.  Don has suggested that this meeting also be a Partners’ night and encourages the Partners to participate in the discussion.  Jude Ripper will present a report on her Partner’s Project being “Rotary Tree Project 2017-2018”.  This will be a great night to showcase our club to the District, and therefore, it would be great to see as many members present as possible.
Have a great week everyone

Sharon Shaws' Induction
It is with great pleasure that the Board of the Rotary Club of Moe announces that we will be inducting our newest member to join our Club. We welcome Sharon Shaw on this night. It might be her first official meeting so lets be gentle with her and save the hard grilling questions for another day. Message to Sharon: please keep your maiden speech within the time allocated!
Noi's Thais Kitchen

This week, we are heading to Noi's Thai Kitchen in Traralgon for a social night. Located at 69 Hotham Street, Traralgon, we will meet at the usual meeting time, from 6.00pm for 6.30pm start, for an informal get-together to enjoy some great food with great mates.

Fully licenced but can be BYO wine. I have advised the restaurant of our numbers but additional guests can still be brought along; just advise either myself or the nice people at Noi's. An excellent opportunity to bring along a potential new Rotarian, to see what happens out of Rotary official meetings. A chance to wind down the Rotary year under Len's leadership before we get reinvigorated with Maureens Mission Plan

Moe Rotary History
HISTORY OF THE ROTARY CLUB OF MOE
Year 1994-95.
Michael Koch was President with Ross Maxfield as Secretary. A Highlight of this year was hosting of the GSE team from Michigan, Ontario for a week. The team of Robert Blanz, Thomas Gilbert, Randy Bergers, Dawn Veltman and Jill Edwards quickly made their mark with Club members. The week involved a very full program of cultural visits (MCG) and visits to Industrial and Service activities in a Mini Bus provided by L.V. Bus Lines, with a significant number of club members as escorts. The program was precision – organized by David Power. David Power had the honour of leading the District 9820 team to Missouri, USA on a most successful GSE experience – another first for the Club. Immediately before departure, the Club surprised David with the Award of a Paul Harris Fellowship.
International Service, led by Bruce Paull, also was very busy with Student Exchange. Maggie Ellis returned from Zimbabwe while Takako Murai returned to Japan. Amanda Mileston from Zimbabwe commenced her exchange year in January while Shane Fozzard left for Japan. Amanda was jointly hosted by Moe and Trafalgar Rotary Clubs and Shane was sponsored by the two Clubs. A film night of vintage films at Peter Ricketts’ Theatrette was both a social and financial success for International. The Club donated $500 to Leunig and Farmer to assist their humanitarian optometry project in New Guinea.
Community Service, headed by Ken McGreggor, organized the Raffle of a Trailer, while five Lowanna students were sponsored to attend the District RYPEN Camp.
Vocational Service Chairman, Charles Witts, headed the Club’s involvement in the Australia-wide Rotary “Employ Australia” project. Many telephone calls were made to employers in the Moe area seeking employment for those seeking work. “Do It Once – Do It Well”. Posters were distributed to work places. A Club visit to Energy- Brix provided an extremely interesting insight into the revival of this important LV Industry. Club members were grateful to Rotarian, John Hutchinson for this opportunity. Under the banner “Toward 2000”, Rotarians, Michael Koch, Ed Achorn and Chris Lampel used their crystal balls to indicate future developments in their professions into the next century.
Bryon Puddy headed planning for the establishment of a second Probus Club. A number of trees were planted in the Botanical Gardens to mark our Exchange Students.
