Hi everyone!
Another quiet week, not much to report.
Welcome back to the Rotarians that have been away. Just
a reminder that on 14th August of the Energy Australia and Careers Fair, if you are attending, please be there at 9.00am to undertake an induction prior to entering the site then at 9,30am set up for 10.00am start and finish at 2.00pm.
In the near future we will be holding a membership night and the program for the night will be a presentation of several projects that and fundraising activities undertaken by the club e.g. WFK, Golf Day, Botanical Gardens, Adopt a school project and Century House.
On Monday 29th July we will be having a social night at Turfside Bistro starting at 6.00pm, if you are going, please contact me by Sunday 28th August. See you there.
That’s all for now
Our RJCA program is well under way with 3 schools participating. It is a Club project.
We would all be aware that Albert St Primary school RJCA students ran their Wheel Chairs For Kids Wheelathon on 26 June, raising enough to fund over 14 chairs, so we are well up to speed with their activities.
It is timely to touch base with both Elizabeth Street and Willow Grove Primary schools to see the students and encourage them to fulfil the program. 2 members are already joining me at Willow Grove on 2 August at 1:40pm, which I consider to
be enough.
However, I am also attending Elizabeth Street PS at 2pm on Thursday 1 August and invite up to 3 interested club members to join me. Please ring me on 047853779 well in advance.
Thanks
Robin
Hi Everyone. At the July Board it was agreed that we celebrate our Rotary Excellence Awards and NYSF in alternate years.
A proposal was put to the club on 22 July and adopted with the inclusion of "Community" in the Excellence Award.
The guidelines would now be as follows -
The Moe Rotary Community Excellence Awards.
*To be awarded every second year unless special circumstances dictate otherwise.
*To be awarded to a local identity who has shown excellence in the nominated category.
*Categories on a rotational basis could be, business, sport, culture, volunteering, caring, education or leadership.
*A sub-committee of Rotarians will meet to determine the presentation date, criteria, shortlisting, administration and program format well in advance of the event.
*Members are invited to make nominations (perhaps in conjunction with discussion with the public.)
NB: Where there is interaction with the public e.g. bosses, work colleagues etc. they too could be invited to the presentation.
This would in fact further broaden Rotary awareness.
Secretary Maureen has a copy of this recommendation for endorsement at our next Board meeting.
