A good turnout on Monday for Club Assembly. It was nice to see Bruce Paull, Peter Kingsbury and
Michael Koch in the room, rather than on Zoom. Di Wilkinson and Michael gave a presentation on
the background to the Bali School project, the support we’ve given in previous years and the
circumstances leading to the request for financial support for the relocation of the toilet block.
Please read the email I sent everyone on 25th April and be ready to join a discussion /decision at the 1st
May meeting.
I was pleased to present Bruce with his 30 year service certificate on Monday, (his actual anniversary was 29 March 1993). He remarked “30 years have flown by, and he very much appreciates the friendship in the club”. Even though Bruce is now based in Eden he still attends meetings where he can and supports our events. Thankyou Bruce.
The Grumble did not go off this week, and it is getting very interesting with a large sum in the kitty. I
was pleased to win $9 – thanks to Margaret Malloch for drawing me!. Mutterings of a “President’s Tax” were completely ignored.
Sandy Auger gave a report on the District Assembly held on 22nd April. It was refreshing to hear how
much she had got out of it. Lyn, Kishor, Di H, Sandy and I all took away some ideas for future projects for the Club.
Rather than have a tribute to Australia this week, I asked that we stand for a minutes’ silence in
acknowledgment of ANZAC DAY. I’m sure that many of us will have participated in the day in varying ways.
There has been an invitation issued to the entire club to attend a Cluster meeting on 15th May.
For this reason I am proposing moving the Board meeting to 16th May, and copy a precis of the
invitation below. I know that the 15th is not a normal club night, but understand that these cluster
meetings are a good chance to catch up with what’s on around the traps, and given there are some
international guests attending, would encourage members to book and attend.
