Robin's Rambles #13
As we come to the close of an unforgetable week, having honoured a Queen Elizabeth II who touched so many lives, some semblance of normality is coming back into focus.
Our Board met on Wednesday, and I have to say that for a quite a small club, there is a lot going on.
The Botanic Gardens BBQ renovation is well underway with a concrete slab next to be formed.
We have a Club Admin Fund raiser event on 5th November at the Turfside Function Centre. This promises to be a great night, with musician Jefferson Smith taking us back through the 60's, 70's and 80's. Lyn Cassar has tickets at $30pp.
With 8 to a table, may I encourage every club member to try and fill a table with friends who are looking for a good night out, and are willing to help us raise funds to drive the engine of the club.
Our Men's Health Project on November 14th is gathering momentum, You can expect to see and hear about it in media community notices. Prostate Cancer is a killer and a silent painless one …..at the start. BUT… with early intervention, this can be completely stopped in its tracks. So l would encourage everyone to tell their friends and colleagues about the event. An opportunity to learn and be proactive in the prevention and also have a great night out with a footy legend of the game, David Parkin.
I wish everyone an enjoyable long weekend and trust the Grand Final is able to deliver a match comparable to some of the earlier finals.
There might be a couple of fines on Monday for backing the right (or wrong) team!
