President's Report
At last Monday’s meeting, President Lyn Cassar concluded her term and
formally handed over the Chain of Office to me as I commence my second
term as President. I will lead the Rotary Club of Moe for the next four months
before passing the role to PresidentElect Ross Maxfield. I look forward to the
challenging months ahead and will strive to create a lasting impact within our
community.
Lyn expressed her gratitude to members and the Board for their support
throughout her presidency and extended her best wishes to me as I begin my
term.
During the meeting, Secretary Maureen Bishop also handed over the role of
Secretary to Roger Taylor, who will serve in the position for the next four
months.
With the Melbourne Cup upon us once again, members enjoyed taking part in
our traditional Cup Sweeps. A $5.00 sweep and a $2.00 sweep were organised
by Roger and myself, with Robin assisting as scrutineer to finalise the draw.
Unfortunately, not everyone will walk away with the “Shockletz” !!!! Goodluck
to all those who joined in.
Final discussions were held in preparation for next week’s special event at the
Newborough Bowling Club. Our guest speaker will be Barb Seymour, General
Manager of the Latrobe Valley Express. The Express covers a huge portion of
the Latrobe Valley, and I am looking forward to hearing about the history of
the paper and its role in our community.
We currently have around 50 guests attending, including District Governor
Emma Clark and District Governor Elect Murray Wilson.
Treasurer Robin has requested for members to pay online prior to Monday, if
possible.
Our Rotary Junior Community Awards program is drawing to a close with the
Awards Night being held at Elizabeth Street Primary School on Wednesday 11 th
November. Members will be preparing the bbq in readiness to serve at 5.30
with the award presentation commencing at 6.00pm. It promises to be a great
evening celebrating the achievements of all participating students.

Report on Rotary South Pacific Zone Conference 2026, 31 Oct.
This conference was an opportunity for me to support the Wheelchairs for Kids stand
in the House of Friendship. I joined CEO Greg Hebble who was over from Perth and
Victorian Coordinator Russell Hayes on Saturday 31 October. Although we were
“stuck” in a quiet backwater of the MCEC 1 st floor we managed to have many useful
conversations. This may lead to presentation/Wheelathon opportunities. I also
caught up with a bunch of Rotarian friends and shared progress on this Club project.
