Monday the 24th was a very busy night.
We enjoyed a second round of Rotary Junior Community Award reports, this time from Newborough East and Elizabeth Street Primary Schools. Well done Roger for helping them through their nervousness. NEPS students Rory and Charlotte took us through their golf development, composting exploits and proficiency in cooking. ESPS students Jalarah, Asha and Claire talked about cooking, woodwork, Pilates and the now famous chocolate ripple cake, which we had the pleasure of sampling. Top marks to the ESPS girls for supporting Caiden who was not feeling able to present his own report. They stood in for him and made sure he was fully represented. It was heart warming.
I shared the 3GG advert for our Men’s health night on 14 Nov and copies of the LV Express ad, which went out on Wed of this week. I again request each member to bring a partner and a mate.
The Grumbles random number generator needs a good look at as, yet again, John H won the draw.
The evening closed with our two Di’s presentations. Di W talked about World Polio Day, and the leadership Australian nurse Elizabeth Kenny made in developing and advocating a very successful alternative strategy to rehabilitation of Polio victims. Her Physical therapy for muscles went on to become known as physiotherapy. An almost forgotten Aussie hero.
Di H entertained us with a quick quiz on Australian history, and we were all rewarded with an Australian icon, a Freddo Frog. (invented by MacRobertson’s, Melbourne in 1930)
Monday 31st is Melbourne Cup Eve with Club Assembly, Dress ups, and a chance to join the sweep.
