I am feeling a bit more optimistic this week!
When you are positive, good things happen. Optimism is essential to achievement and it is also the foundation of courage and true progress.
An optimist understands that life can be a bumpy road, but at least it is leading somewhere...
We are doing really well in that we are meeting together and enjoying fellowship, albeit online.
A warm welcome to Ross Maxfield who will be zooming with us for the first time on Monday night!
Thank you to members who are making time to connect with Rotary mates. It is really important that we support each other through these trying times! Oh, how I wish we could be back at the RSL again...
On a sad note, I wish to inform members that PP Wendy Farmer has advised the Board of her decision to resign from the Rotary Club of Moe.
Her thirteen years of service to the club are much appreciated. Wendy has contributed not only as President, but also as Chair of Youth/Vocation; International Service and Program Chair. Wendy was also actively involved at District level with the Youth Exchange program. So, on behalf of members, I thank Wendy for her service to Rotary and wish her well in her future endeavours.
Behind the scenes, there is much happening, and our committee Chairs will be sharing what their respective committees are planning for the coming year. It is an optimistic outlook as we don’t really know what we will be able to do during these pandemic times. Nonetheless, onwards and upwards we will head!
At our Club Assembly on Monday night, Barry Dunstan will be reporting to the club about grant applications he has completed on behalf of members to secure further funding for our staged Botanic Gardens project. The Board has endorsed applications to Latrobe City Council and Energy Australia. An exciting time for our club and full of optimism that even during these times of social distancing and isolation we can still forge ahead and be positive. Thanks Barry and the team, Alan Bishop and Bill Connell, who are working to assist Barry.
Diane Wilkinson will also update members about the By-Laws and what is happening with our Club Constitution. Thank you to members involved in this important hard-working group: Diane, Len, Bryon and Peter. I sincerely appreciate your efforts.
Maureen Bishop has been busy writing up two lots of Special Minutes which will be available for members to read on our club website: the first lot relate to Botanic Gardens funding applications; the second lot relate to a Steve Bechaz and his grant application. She has also had Club Administration minutes to do as well! As the immediate past Secretary, I know how hard Maureen has been working and I thank her!!
My thought for this week is inspired by A.A. Milne, an English author, best known for his books about the teddy bear Winnie-the-Pooh.
“What day is it?” asked Pooh.
“It’s today,” squeaked Piglet.
“My favourite day,” said Pooh.
Hoping that the coming days are your favourite days and that you can maintain an optimistic outlook.
See you all in zoom-land on Monday night.
