Rotary Club of Moe
Board Meeting 21st November

Some of our members and partners are unwell with Covid, Colds and Flu and are recovering from operations.  We wish them all a speedy recovery.

The Men’s Health event on Monday night was well attended by Rotarians and guests. David Parkin was in good form, very energetic and inspiring. His presentation was a combination of information, challenges and discussion and many in the room were fully engaged in the conversation.

Thank you to Kishor for his presentation on the Rotary Bowelscan program. It was very successful with 30 people taking up our offer of a complementary kit.
After the formal session finished people stayed and chatted for quite a while, which was an indication of the interest in the topics raised. It is always hard to judge these events, but if we have enabled a better health outcome for only one person the event was a success.

The event was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Moe with a big thank you for financial support from Loy Yang B Community Partnership Program and Rotary International Foundation. Moe Racing Club very generously provided the room and light supper. Support was also given by Latrobe Valley Express, 3GG, Gippsland FM and Harvey Norman Moe.

Our busy week included the Rotary Junior Community Award presentations on Wednesday. Congratulations to Roger and the entire club for bringing this together. Roger’s report covers it in more detail.
Looking forward I encourage members to attend the District Conference 2023 at RACV Cape Schanck Resort.
It is being held over the weekend of 24 to 26 February 2023. Please go to https://rotary9820.org.au/page/district-9820-conference-2023/       to make your booking.
And of course the Rotary International Convention in Melbourne 27-31 May 2023. This is going to be huge and is arguably a once in a lifetime opportunity. https://convention.rotary.org/en/melbourne

It’s a Board meeting on Monday, so please do not go to the RSL!
Rotary Junior Community Award Presentation Evening.

On Wednesday 16th November we booked the Albert Street PS Hall as the venue for the 2022 Moe Rotary RJCA Presentations.

Representatives from 4 local schools, Newborough East, Newborough, Albert Street and Elizabeth Street were present on the night.

It was a great success with 9 of the 12 graduates in attendance, together with their families and support members, teachers and Rotarians notable in Rotary shirts.
Two students were no-shows which was disappointing as they missed out on some really positive diary feedback from Vocation members Di, Sandy and Robin. (Ross was there too , but assisting on the barbecue.)

All in all, the 12 certificates presented means that Moe has supported nearly 200 local students to achieve this award over the past 9 years.

A special mention was made to ASPS's Carol O'Reilly who has been the lead organiser at that school for each of those years.
Elizabeth Street has already booked 2pm on 8 December as the time that they would like us to promote the program to their current Grade 5's. (They will receive feedback from this year's participants).

Our thanks go to Len for providing a fabulous BBQ team comprising Helen, Helen, Bill, Lyn and Ross. Good job! Thanks also to Di for submitting the Activity Advice to District 9820.
FOOTNOTE: The feedback from parents and staff was really positive, and one parent even wants to find out more about the Rotary Club of Moe.
