In joyful strains then let us sing,

FOUR WAY TEST
1.
Is it the TRUTH?

3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

President Michael's Mumbles.

Well the time has come -  this is my last president’s report for the year, and what a year we have had. It has been enjoyable working with a great team, of dedicated Rotarians.
This Monday will be change over, out with the old and in with the new. I hope all Moe Rotarians will be able to attend this special night and see the induction of President Elect Len become our new leader for the year.
I would like to wish  Len and his team a wonderful and productive year. I also would like to thank every Rotarian for the opportunity to have served as your President for 2015-16.

P.S. I am still not counting the hours to changeover.

See you all Monday Night.

Michael

 Notes From Last Meeting:

Gippsland Rotary Golf Classic Letters of Thanks - Letters to sponsors have been prepared and distributed to members, who are requested to pass them on to their sponsor contact as soon as possible.
GRGC Proceeds - Treasurer Diane reported that some collections are still to be finalised, but event profits are likely to be between $22 -25,000. A mighty effort!

Yallourn Energy BBQ (Sunday 17 April) - Lyn reminded us of the need for the volunteers to meet for their pre-BBQ briefing at 9.30.
First Aid Kit - Thanks to Kishor for the donation of this kit. It will get its first outing at the barbecue on 17 April.

Top 10 Road Fines in Victoria
1. Speeding - This category dwarfs all others (approximately 175,000 fines in the past financial year). About half exceeded the speed limit by over 15kph, and fines ranged from $190-$758.
2. Unregistered Vehicles - Over 57,000 fines, each costing $758.
3. Breaking Road Rules - 3,000 fines handed out for failing to obey road markings or signs, with a further 1200 cyclists booked for a range of reasons. Fines went up to $758.
4. No P-Plates - Just under 1100 young drivers were booked for not displaying P-Plates in the correct manner. Fine: $152.
5. Running Red Lights - 10,000 drivers and 771 cyclists were fined $152-$379 for not stopping at traffic lights.
6. Using a Mobile Phone - Hands-free systems are common in new cars, but thousands of people in older vehicles (38,318 in fact) incurred a $455 penalty for irresponsible use of phones while driving. (The editor even spotted a motor cyclist texting).
7. Not Wearing a Bike Helmet -5390 riders and a further 150 passengers were fined $190 for this infringement.
8. Annoying People at Traffic Lights - 300 fines were handed out to people illegally "soliciting contributions or employment" (eg hitch-hikers, windscreen cleaners, bogus charity collections) each earning fines of $76.
9. Incorrect Crossing Procedures - 150 fines of $76 were handed to pedestrians who wandered the streets inappropriately.
10. Improper Mounting or Dismounting  Motor Cycles - Just 4 fines of $76 apiece.
