Golf Day Review

Robin's Rambles #36

Thank you to the entire team for pulling together on Monday at the Gippsland Rotary Golf Classic.

Of course a special mention to Roger and Maureen for their huge organisational effort, but there were so many helping behind the scenes that it was truly a team result.

I’m not quite sure how it happened, but luck was smiling on us again as the rain stayed away until the teams were back at the Club house. There was a sense of fun, fellowship and camaraderie that made the day very enjoyable.

Barry has done some initial calcs and it looks like the day was solid in terms of net proceeds. I’ll leave it to the financial wizards to call the final number, but whatever it proves to be, the day was a success, people had fun and were very generous. I think we can be rightly proud of an event well done.

On Monday 3 April we are having a recap of events on the day. There will be a few photos of the team in action. Roger will lead a feedback conversation about ideas and issues for next year.

Please apply your minds to what you might like to do on Easter Monday 10 April. There is scope to have a social event of some form, rather than a formal meeting. (Monday 17 April is a Board meeting). We’ll discuss on Monday 3rd.

President Robin

Golf Classic '23 Review Program Monday 3 April:

Helen asked if we could focus on the golf day as this week's program.
I think that it is worth reviewing in 3 ways:
  • Information - Roger and interested committee members will highlight important aspects of the day's proceedings
  • Entertainment - Members provide short anecdotes of interesting or amusing incidents/activities during the day (President Robin will kick this session off)
  • Improvements - Any member can provide input regarding their noteworthy observations ((Bill will lead this off). This will form the basis of our 2023 Review.
Personally I had mixed feelings during the day (mainly because of the weather outlook) which progressed from trepidation to satisfaction to exhilaration.

That final feeling wasn't just a result of the success of the day.
It was more the progress from initial doubts about manpower capabilities, to delight in how magnificently all Rotarians contributed to our final outcome.

Congratulations and well done.
