President's Report
Last Monday’s meeting took on a relaxed format, with members enjoying their meals
together in the Moe Hotel Bistro before moving into the function room for our evening
program, “My Travelogue Snapshots.”
Members who have recently been away on holidays were given the opportunity to share
their holiday adventures.
A big thankyou to Helen MacDonald for telling us about her adventures in South Korea; to
Robin Noakes for sharing his SA road trip; to Diane Wilkinson for showing photos and
highlights of her holiday in Tasmania and Roger Taylor for taking us up north to enjoy the
warmer weather.
Their presentations were thoroughly enjoyable and certainly gave the rest of us the travel
bug.

Monday 24 August – Vicki Hamilton, CEO of GARDS, will join us as our guest speaker –
to be chaired by Lyn Cassar
Roger also expressed appreciation to both Diane and Lyn who have kindly volunteered to
chair these evenings.
As most of our travellers are back from their holidays, I will look forward to seeing everyone
next week.

Girls in Blue & Blue Light Disco
Upcoming Community Support Opportunities
As mentioned at last Monday’s meeting, the Rotary Club of Morwell has invited our Club to
join them in supporting the Morwell Proactive Policing Unit, who will be conducting two
community projects at the Moe Town Hall.
1. Girls in Blue – Recruiting Event
Date: Tuesday 1 September 2026
Time: 9:30 am – 2:00 pm
This event is aimed at encouraging young women to consider a career in the Police Force. It
is expected that only one Rotarian from each club will be required to attend.
2. Blue Light Disco – Moe & Traralgon Special Schools
Date: Friday 11 September 2026
Time: 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm
This event will be split into two sessions:
Juniors: 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm
Seniors: 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm
The Blue Light Disco will require approx 3–4 Rotarians (final number to be confirmed). Roles
will include handing out drinks and food to the students and providing general support
throughout the evening.
This initiative will also give our Club another valuable opportunity to be visible in the
community while assisting our fellow Rotarians from Morwell.
Further discussion about these events will take place at next Monday’s meeting.

A Trip Down Memory Lane
From the archives .............the early 1990's
1994-95
Leading the District 9820 GSE team to Missouri, USA.
$500 donation to Leunig and Farmer to assist their humanitarian optometry project in New Guinea.
Vocational Service participated in the Australia-wide Rotary employment project, to assist those seeking work in this area.
1995-96
Presidential Citation achieved by the Club.
A number of fundraising activities were undertaken, which enabled funds to be made available to Moe Heights Scouts’ Group and Moe Scouts Group to refurbish their premises.
A second Probus Club was successfully established.
1996-97
A new Mobile Rotary Club Barbecue was designed, organized and built.
Community Service combined with the Rotary Club of Flemington to send a group of 30 Moe and Newborough children to the Royal Melbourne Show.
Rotary wheels were installed at the Marshall Avenue Playground and Gatehouse Gardens.
Donations to World Community Service Australia were made for a Mobile Eye Clinic in Indonesia and, to assist movement of Donations In Kind material.
The Club assisted the local R.D.A. group in staging the Blue Rock Classic event.
Donations to Lowanna Secondary College for the “Trees for 2000” Project, the Ambulance Service for a Backing Cradle and a TV and VCR to the Moe Volunteer Blood Bank at the Latrobe Regional Hospital.
