Program: BBQ at Botanic Gardens

All projects, scholars, and vocational training teams funded by global grants work toward specific goals in one or more of the Foundation’s six areas of focus:

  APRIL
Maternal and Child Health Month.

By prioritising Maternal and Child Health, Rotary establishes and supports projects which improve access to medical services for mothers and their children. These efforts are aimed at reducing the number of children under 5 who die from poor health practices each year.

President Michaels Mumbles.
In my absence last week, the old team of Bruce Paull and Dave Wood admirably controlled the program. Thanks guys.
I understand that Bryon capably "retrained" our members in the most effective use of our club website. We are informed that it is one of the very best district resources, and I encourage club members to make full use of its content. As it is regularly updated by Bryon, readers will find that material is almost always current. The various links provide untold information on a wide variety of topics.

The next big event for the club will be Energy Australia Open Day, Sunday, 17 April, which is not far away.

Michael.

Oirish Vasectomy.

After having their 11th child, an Irish couple decided that that was enough, as they couldn't afford a larger bed. So the husband went to his doctor and told him that he and his wife didn't want to have any more children ...

The doctor told him there was a procedure called a vasectomy that would fix the problem but it was expensive. A less costly alternative was to go home, get a large firecracker, light it, put it in a beer can, then hold the can up to his ear and count to 10.

The husband said to the doctor, "B'Jayzus, I may not be the smartest guy in the world, but I don't see how putting a firework in a beer can next to my ear is going to help me with my problem."
"Trust me, it will do the job", said the doctor.

So the man went home, lit a cracker and put it in a beer can. He held the can up to his ear and began to count:
"1, 2, 3, 4, 5," at which point he paused, and placed the beer can between his legs so he could continue counting on his other hand.

This procedure also works in New Zealand and Tasmania
This Time Last Year
JANUARY:

3 – Victoria sweltered in 43 degree heat. (As I write, it’s bucketing down on 3/1/2016).
7 – 12 people were shot and killed when al-Qa’ida-linked terrorists stormed the office of Paris magazine, Charlie Hebdo.
14 – Top Melbourne trainers Peter Moody, Danny O’Brien and Mark Kavanagh each had horses which returned positive cobalt tests. (Moody’s hearing is dragging on, but he has closed his Randwick stables – our horse, Dark Eyes, is now trained by Gai Waterhouse).
20 – The consortium that signed the contract to build the East-West Link requested at least $1.2 billion to walk away from the dumped project.
25 –Mother of murdered son Luke, Rose Batty was named Australian of the Year.
31 – The Socceroos beat South Korea 2-1 in extra time to win the Asian Cup.

HERE IS A WARNING - ALWAYS BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR!!!!
An Aussie truckie walks into an outback cafe with a full-grown emu behind him.

The waitress asks them for their orders.
The truckie says, ‘A hamburger, chips and a coke,’ and turns to the emu, ‘What's yours?’
‘Sounds great, I'll have the same,' says the emu.’
A short time later the waitress returns with the order ‘That will be $9.40 please,’ and he reaches into his pocket and pulls out the exact change and pays.
The next day, the man and the emu come again and he says, ‘A hamburger, chips and a coke.’
The emu says, ‘Sounds great, I'll have the same.’
Again the truckie reaches into his pocket and pays with exact change.
This becomes routine until the two enter again. ‘The usual?’ asks the waitress.
‘No, it's Friday night, so I'll have a steak, baked potato and a salad,’ says the man..`
‘ Same for me,’ says the emu.
Shortly the waitress brings the order and says, ‘That will be $32.60.’
Once again the man pulls the exact change out of his pocket and places it on the table.
The waitress cannot hold back her curiosity any longer. ‘Excuse me mate, how do you manage to always pull the exact change from your pocket every time?’
“Well, love” says the truckie, “a few years ago, I was cleaning out the back shed, and found an old lamp. When I cleaned it, a Genie appeared and offered me two wishes. My first wish was that if I ever had to pay for anything, I would just put my hand in my pocket and the right amount of money would always be there.”
“That's brilliant!” says the waitress. “Most people would ask for a million dollars or something, but you'll always be as rich as you want, for as long as you live!”
“That's right. Whether it's a gallon of milk or a Rolls Royce, the exact money is always there.” says the man.
Still curious the waitress asks, “What's with the bloody emu?”
The truckie pauses, sighs and answers, “My second wish was for a tall bird with a big arse and long legs, who agrees with everything I say.”
