Welcome everyone to the new Rotary year.
What a great night we had at our Changeover on Monday night at the Newborough Bowling Club. We had a several special guests, DG Linda Humphries and partner, PDG Mark Humphries, AG Tim Wills, and Gippsland Rotary Centenary House (GRCH) Chairman, Dave Swainsbury and his partner, Carol.
Also in attendance were members of Inner Wheel Moe: President Robyn Cross, members Sandra Demagistris, Beatrice Skinner and Deidre. Bill Carmichael (Lions Club of Moe) attended with Deidre. Moe Probus President Mavis Larkin, and President of Newborough Probus, Lindsay King and his partner, Christa also attended.
Presidents from the Rotary clubs of Warragul and Morwell were present and Teresa Mitchell and Colin Matthies enjoyed a night a fellowship.
Important presentations were made by outgoing President Robin Noakes. A Paul Harris Fellow Double sapphire was presented to Barry Dunstan to acknowledge his contributions to Rotary over the past 26 years and for leading the BBQ Refurbishment Centennial Project which began in August 2020 and was finally completed in May this year.
A second PHF was presented by PP Di Harrison to Len Cairns for his contributions to Rotary especially the planning for the Community Produce Garden in Kingsford St Moe, Round Garden Bed in Moe Botanic Garden and another garden bed which he established near the Moe Tennis Courts.
Rotarian of the Year was presented to Alan Bishop for his outstanding leadership of the BBQ Refurbishment project. A mighty effort Alan. Congratulations.
I would also like to thank our busy now past Secretary, Di Harrison for organizing Changeover and for personally helping me to prepare for my role as Club President.
This week, I am really looking forward to sharing my thoughts about what I would like to achieve during my year as President.
