WE GIVE THANKS
ADVANCE AUSTRALIA FAIR
Australians all let us rejoice,
For we are young and free,
We've golden soil and wealth for toil,
Our home is girt by sea,
Our land abounds in natures gifts,
Of beauty rich and rare,
In history's page, let every stage
Advance Australia Fair!
In joyful strains then let us sing,
"Advance Australia Fair!"
FOUR WAY TEST
1.
Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Len’s Log 16

Another busy week as we head into our first Saturday (15th October) in Moore Street for our Rotary Club of Moe Awareness and Marigolds Project.

We will have a strong team present (thanks to all those who have volunteered) with our BBQ set up for a Sausage Sizzle and our Marigold Punnets ready for any takers for a gold coin.

Our town this week has the Moe Cup, with many Rotarians involved in supervising the Parking and possibly doing some betting!

A big sale in the shops with the Moe Traders going strong and then our efforts on Saturday morning in the middle of town.

Our Bali Group through Nathan Harding’s International Committee is off early November and we are raising funds for the new boys’ urinals at the school to replace old and broken toilets. We are also trying to arrange to have one of the girl students assessed for a diagnosis of what might be done for her disability in the future if there is any possibility of treatment.

Later this month we will be having our first Breakfast informal recruitment opportunity meeting at Turn Back Time Café in Moe (at the railway end of Shaw’s arcade). This will be on Wednesday 26th October at 7.30 am till 8.30 am.

John F. Germ on Membership
Membership Month Thoughts from John F. Germ
Our President of Rotary International stated in the August 2016 edition of Rotary Down Under that “there’s one barrier to membership that only you can remove; one thing that every prospective member needs to become a Rotarian; an invitation to join a Rotary club.”

He talks about whenever he tells a group of Rotarians that we need more willing hands, more caring hearts and more bright minds to move our work forward, everyone applauds. But new members don’t just appear in our clubs – we have to ask them to join. And an invitation to Rotary is a gift because it’s saying to someone, “I think you have the skills, the talent and the character to make our community better.”

The recent Council on legislation allowed clubs a little more flexibility – some clubs have varied their meeting times, and have been given latitude to clear away as many barriers to membership as they can. With the opportunity now to control much of what we do in the Rotary of Moe, let's get together and really plan how we can add to the quality of our current membership with new blood.

Aussie No-Hopers:
 Last One:
"When my husband and I arrived at a car dealer to pick up our car, we were told the keys had been locked in it. We went to the service department and found a mechanic working feverishly to unlock the driver's side door. As I watched from the passenger side, I instinctively tried the door handle and discovered that it was unlocked. 'Hey,' I announced to the technician, 'it's open !'
His reply, 'I know - I already done that side.'
