Our land abounds in natures gifts,
Of beauty rich and rare,
In history's page, let every stage
Advance Australia Fair!
In joyful strains then let us sing,
"Advance Australia Fair!"
FOUR WAY TEST
1. Is it the TRUTH? 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

AUGUST
Membership Month
Di's Dialogue #4
Considering the Stage 3 lockdown restrictions we are now placed under, it is hard to maintain an optimistic outlook, but we must!
This week we had the first of our Zoom ‘Firesides’ and I enjoyed being part of the Community Service meeting as moderator. The new Chair, Bill Connell, is well supported by members of the committee and even though community service is limited due to the pandemic, there is still much that can be done to prepare for the day when we can once again be out and about.
On Monday night, Bonnie Lai, from Moe Life Skills will be our special guest speaker with Rog Taylor as the Chairperson. I had a lovely chat with Bonnie today and she is a little nervous about presenting to Moe Rotarians. It will be a good opportunity for us to find out more about Moe Life Skills and how they are coping in these pandemic times.
Robin Noakes has sent out the Zoom meeting invitations, so check your emails.
The second Monday of the month meeting is scheduled to run for 45 minutes and there will be the usual ‘open mic’ session at the end of the meeting.
My quote for this week is courtesy of Charles Darwin who was an English naturalist, geologist and biologist and is best known for his contributions to the science of evolution.
“It's not the strongest of the species that survives, not the most intelligent. It is the one that is most adaptable to change.”
Take care everyone, be safe, and if you need to go out, be a proud ‘mask-ateer’!
The Golf Committee is now reviewing preparations for next year’s event.
At this point in time we are likely to implement the following –
Goods Collection – all goods to be collected a week prior to the event to give us sufficient time to collate the donations, and to complete administrative matters such as auction lists, raffle lists, power-point presentation etc. Registration Form – to include email address for the team contact (for follow up as required) Donated Items – to be new and in original packaging. Cart Hire – To protect against claims for damage to the cart, players requesting a cart will need to complete a Hire Agreement immediately after their cart request.
We are asking Rotarians to consider their role(s) on the day and send recommendations to taylor.rog.s@gmail.com So if you think that your area of responsibility eg raffle sales, publicity/photos/power-point, barbecue, manpower (morning), drinks cart operation, finance, scoreboard, dinner/catering, auction spotters, money collectors, clean up etc could be improved, please send me an email.
He was taken to LRH for scans & later transferred to Monash Clayton. I picked him up from Monash on Wednesday. They decided not to operate & try & fix it with medication. He has been taken off his blood thinners for now & has to go for a CT on Thursday then a follow up with his doctor. Then a second CT the following week with a follow up with his doctor. He is not allowed to drive for the time being & is pretty tired & dizzy & headachy. Glad he is still around & it happened on a Sunday evening when we were watching Tv & not in his sleep.
Alan would like to thank everyone very much for the beautiful flowers that were delivered. They really lifted his spirits.
The Rotary Club of Moe, in partnership with Rotary District 9820, have provided a $1000 Foundation Student Scholarship Grant to Lowanna College. The primary purpose of the Student Scholarship Grants is to provide financial support to students in any year level of secondary school.
The scholarship funds are paid directly to Lowanna College and the College then determines the distribution of the scholarships, which can benefit from one to four students to assist and encourage them to more fully participate in their secondary education. Funds can be used to pay school fees, books and equipment to assist students to more formally participate in curriculum activities.
Foundation Committee Chair, Diane Wilkinson, recently presented the scholarship cheque to Trevor Cox, Assistant Principal, Lowanna College and we look forward to hearing how the funds have benefitted students this year.
