Hi everyone!

Not much to say this week. On Monday night some Rotarians and partners went along to 20/20 restaurant, it was a nice night with good food and good company.

On Tuesday the changeover/75th anniversary committee met and have the event well under way, thanks Ross Maxfield, Robin Noakes, Maureen Bishop and Di Wilkinson for all their hard work and time they have put into making it a successful night.

Coming up on Monday May 29th is a movie night at Warragal cinemas which will be run by Warragul Rotary Club, this is a true story and also an Australian film called ‘The Way My Way”.

Well, that’s all I have for now see you all on Monday.

Stay safe

President Lyn

It is with great pleasure that we announce the date, time and place for the inaugural D9815 Changeover.

Saturday 29th June, 2024,

This will be a memorable event as it will highlight the accomplishments of both Districts 9810 and 9820 as they join to form District 9815.

It will be a fabulous opportunity to meet and mingle with Rotarians from both Districts as we learn about each other and how we can work together in the coming years.

Booking and cost details will follow shortly. Put the date in your calendar and anticipate an exciting evening where you meet new friends and may hear of different project ideas for your Club.

An update on a Club project.

Robin made a presentation to the RJCA students at Albert Street Primary school about their program which starts in term 2.  Principal Monique Osborn and Welfare Officer Bek Harkensee had already both shown great enthusiasm for President Lyn’s Wheelchair for Kids project and are now supporting the idea of a school “Wheelathon” to raise money for chairs.  Building on this Rtn Robin invited the kids to identify what a chair should look like and then showed them the WFK chair.

He showed a video from a Melbourne school and discussed how a Wheelathon might work. The exciting part is the RJCA kids will be deeply involved in designing and running the day, as part of their RJCA project.   To our knowledge ASPS will be the first school in Gippsland to run a Wheelathon as part of their RJCA program.  It is President Lyn’s wish for this Club project to involve as many of the Club as possible, and there will be scope for the entire club to be there on the day and possibly be part of a BBQ fund raiser.

Hi everyone,

Further to previous discussion regarding office bearer positions and possible future Club structure, please see below report from the Board, with advice regarding positions for 2024-25 and recommendations regarding structure going forward.

Rotary Club of Moe – Board report and recommendations
Further to a meeting of the Nominating Committee and further discussion at the Board meeting on Monday 19th February, 2024, the Board has resolved to send the following report and recommendations to Club members for consideration at the next meeting on Monday 26th February. ** See proposed Motion at bottom of email.

Office Bearer Positions:
President – President Lyn Cassar has agreed to be President for 2024-25.
President Nominee 2025-26 - This is not yet resolved and is referred back to Club for further consideration.   Options for this position potentially include a shared role over the year (eg 2 x 6-month terms during the year).
Secretary – Maureen Bishop has agreed to be Secretary, with some changes to current processes and systems as outlined below.
Treasurer – Diane Wilkinson has agreed to do the Treasurer role, with Robin Noakes learning the program over the year and assisting with Treasurer duties as required.

Recommendations for Proposed Changes to Club structure and process:
Board Meetings –
The Board to meet 6 times a year.  Final Board composition will be determined once the Club structure has been established.  Reports are to be provided to the Secretary from Coordinators or other members as required for distribution with the Agenda prior to Board meetings.   If urgent matters require resolution between meetings, this can be done via phone or email circulation, or if needed a short Board meeting at the conclusion of a Club meeting.

Club Meetings –
It is recommended that the Club meets fortnightly.  Meetings would include meal, reports/decisions as needed and then fellowship.

Future Club Activities / Projects / Programs –
The Club needs to review and be selective about what we continue to be involved in to ensure that members are not burnt out.  The reasons for being involved in these activities should be a fundamental consideration in this review.

Club Program / Activity Coordinators –
Rather than have the traditional Committees, it is recommended that Program / Activity Coordinators be appointed to manage individual Club projects or programs, eg MUNA, Rotary Junior Community Awards, Pride of Workmanship, Bali, Foundation scholarships, Community BBQs etc to spread the workload and enable Club members to be involved in a range of programs where they have a particular interest.

Sharing of information –
It is very important that information is shared with all Club members regularly – at Club meetings, via the Bulletin or via Club Runner email service as appropriate.  Coordinators would be responsible for follow up communication on matters relating to their specific area of responsibility.  General communication would be the responsibility of the President, Secretary, Treasurer or other members as relevant.

Motion to be put to the Club on Monday 26 February 2024:
That Club members approve the appointments to Office Bearer positions for 2024-25 as listed and resolve to adopt the recommendations as outlined above.
Thanks everyone, please give consideration to these matters prior to the meeting.

Regards
Diane

Email from Andrew at Old Gippstown
Good afternoon Roger.

Trust you are well.

I wanted to send an e-mail to you today and I will then give you a call next Monday.

We were talking recently at your Old Gippstown Awards night regarding if some of your members may be able to volunteer at School visits to Old Gippstown.

We have some school visits coming up in March and April, and I would love to have any of your members come along to our school visit functions to assist. The activities range from running activities for the students through to simply being in costume and setting the atmosphere.

I don’t want to alarm anyone that this is a high expectation role. I am seeking assistance for a volunteer to play the role of a school headmaster through to running old fashioned games.

I have played several of the roles and as the students are generally prep to grade two, it is a lot of fun and very rewarding.

On the days of the school visits, we are seeking volunteers from between approximately 10am through to about 12:30pm.

I will arrange some lunch and morning tea if bribing is necessary 😊

Thanks so much for your time. I just wanted to give you a heads up before I call you next week.

Kind Regards

Andrew Reddick
