What a great night we had at the Moe RSL on Monday night!
March 2, 2020 was the last time we met face to face at the RSL and it was lovely to be back at a familiar venue. There has been much discussion and planning with staff, especially Rebecca, to ensure our return went smoothly.
Lisa Twigger, Community Engagement Officer, Latrobe Regional Hospital, was our guest speaker who encouraged us to participate in the LRH Virtual Fun Run & Walk to be held on the weekend of the 27 and 28 November.
Last year, there was a band of six Rotarians, plus Jocelyn Yeatman, who enjoyed a lovely stroll along the Moe Yallourn North Rail Trail and raised $350.00.
If you are interested in being a part of the ‘Moe Rotarians’ group this year, please email me by 5.00pm Friday 19 November and I will add you to our group. Lisa has kindly set-up a virtual group and appointed me as Captain. Rotarians from other clubs, partners, friends are very welcome to join us.
Saturday morning worked well last year so I suggest we meet at the Rotary Shelter in the Botanic Gardens at 10.00am. The minimum registration fee is $20.00 per person, and I am happy to pay the registration upfront and then reimbursed on the day of our walk.
It is a terrific opportunity to promote Rotary, so I encourage fellow walkers to wear a shirt with a Rotary logo, shorts/trousers, comfortable shoes, and hat for sun protection. Our group photo from last year has featured prominently in promotions!
Lisa Twigger explained that funds raised from the Virtual Fun Run & Walk are going towards The Wear House project. A very worthy project which helps inpatients who, for a variety of reasons, do not have clothing to wear during their stay in hospital or at discharge. It is about preserving a patient’s dignity and assisting when families and relatives are not able to do so.
By registering in the LRH Virtual Fun Run and Walk, 100% of the fee will support The Wear House. If you are interested in volunteering in the Wear House, please contact Lisa, ltwigger@lrh.com.au
I will be attending a Rotary meeting in Leongatha on Monday night and have a special presentation to preside over as District 9820 Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA) Chair. The Rotary Club of Leongatha sponsored seven delegations, and two were successful.
The delegation representing Colombia gained first place and the other delegation, Israel, came runner-up in the recent MUNA 2021 online activity. So, there is much to celebrate in Leongatha.
The District AGM is being held, via Zoom, on Sunday morning at 10.00am. I have registered my attendance at the online AGM.
Stay safe everyone and have a wonderful week.
