ADVANCE AUSTRALIA FAIR
Australians all let us rejoice,
For we are young and free,
We've golden soil and wealth for toil,
Our home is girt by sea,
Our land abounds in natures gifts,
Of beauty rich and rare,
In history's page, let every stage
Advance Australia Fair!
In joyful strains then let us sing,
"Advance Australia Fair!"
FOUR WAY TEST
1.
Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

All projects, scholars, and vocational training teams funded by global grants work toward specific goals in one or more of the Foundation’s six areas of focus:

DECEMBER
DISEASE PREVENTION AND TREATMENT MONTH
You can make a difference in this world by helping others in need — from supplying vaccine to protect a child from polio, to training Rotary Peace Fellows to build a more peaceful future.
For over 100 years, The Rotary Foundation has supported Rotarians’ work to find sustainable solutions to their communities’ most pressing needs. But we still have work to do. With your help, we can make lives better in your community and around the world.

Maureen’s Moments
#25
Hi all
What a great way to wind down for the year by having a casual night at Banjos Restaurant last Monday night.  It is always good to see members relaxed and enjoying each other’s company.
Our Christmas function is on again next Monday with Santa and his Elf arriving immediately after the meeting commences.  As a change and to add to the Christmas feel, members are encouraged to place a gift under the tree for their partner as well as any children attending. This will give Santa and his Elf extra work to do on the night and keep them out of trouble!
Please take note of the slight change of start time now being 6.30 for 6.45pm.  Hopefully, by the time this Bulletin has been sent, all members will have let Kishor know of numbers attending for the night.
As 2017 draws to a close and we race into 2018, I want to remind you of some of the social events that I have mentioned along the way.  The first event will be a bus trip to ‘Blue Gables Vineyard” on Sunday 11th February 2018. This winery is situated on the other side of the Glenmaggie Weir and is a located in a picturesque setting overlooking the Newry Flats in Eastern Gippsland.  Cheese boards, Antipasto Platters and wood fired pizzas will be available for purchase on the day as well as their lovely wine and of course beer on tap.  I am organising a 53 seater bus and cost of bus will be dependent on number of people coming.  I will provide more information next week.  The next big event is the Annual Table Tennis Tournament on Saturday 24th February.  I know there are many who are very keen to take home the perpetual trophy with their name engraved on it. So please mark these in your diary as both days should be a lot of fun.
Although both events occur in February, it has been difficult to fit everything in and both events are best held in the summer weather.
Later next week we have two more community events to attend.  On Thursday 21st will be the Woollies bbq and I will be send around a list for volunteers on Monday night.  Also on Friday 22nd will be the Carols by Candlelight to be held at the Racing Club.  More details will be provided on Monday.
See you all on Monday for our final catch-up for the year and don’t forget to wear something ‘Christmassy”

President Maureen

Stories
November is Rotary Foundation Month

The Rotary Foundation transforms your gifts into service projects that change lives both close to home and around the world.

During the past 100 years, the Foundation has spent $3 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects.

With your help, we can make lives better in your community and around the world.

Why should I donate to The Rotary Foundation?

Your donation makes a difference to those who need our help most. More than 90 percent of donations go directly to supporting our service projects around the world.

How does The Rotary Foundation use donations?

Our 35,000 clubs carry out sustainable service projects that support our six causes. With donations like yours, we’ve wiped out 99.9 percent of all polio cases. Your donation also trains future peacemakers, supports clean water, and strengthens local economies.

What impact can one donation have?

It can save a life. A child can be protected from polio with as little as 60 cents. Our partners make your donation go even further. For every $1 Rotary commits to polio eradication, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has committed $2.

Footnote - Remember Len has the containers which hold $100 of two dollar coins. Just ask him for one.

2018 Golf Committee

Preliminary Meeting Attendance 23 October - R. Taylor (coordinator), M. Bishop (administration), H. Morrison (ticketing), A. Bishop (fundraising), L. Cairns

Major Sponsors - Our sincere thanks to Peter Kingsbury, Shen and Sharlee and Michael Koch for their generous support once again. Each of the donors has been asked to review wording on last year's tickets before we initiate design and printing next month.
2017 in Review - we are reviewing all documentation from last year including promotional letters, team and individual registrations, list of sponsors with Rotarian contact, timeline, roles and responsibilities etc. This review will have us well placed for the Golf Classic's preparations in the new year.
Vote of Thanks - Congratulations to Wendy and her team for last year's success and the associated paperwork.

HISTORY OF THE ROTARY CLUB OF MOE
Editor's Note: The 2013-14 until 2016-17 reports will be held over until the New Year.
On behalf of all bulletin readers I would like to thank Club Historian Ross for the many hours he spent updating and producing the annual reports which have been regular features over the past year.
Sage Advice
Our thanks go to Ross Maxfield who spotted these words of wisdom on senior coffee mugs -

I try to avoid things that make me fat...like mirrors, scales and photographs.
If life's a journey, then mine's between the fridge and the computer.
When I get a headache, I take 2 aspirin and keep away from children...like it says on the bottle.
My Book Club only reads wine labels.
I always offer 2 dinner choices - Take it or leave it.
Instead of cleaning the house I just turn off the lights.
I drink coffee for YOUR protection.
Sometimes I think there are crazy people in my house. Then I realise it's just me.
