Melbourne Cup eve meeting lived up to expectations with members and guests getting into the mood of a dress up evening. We welcomed Margaret Malloch and Kate Noakes. The Melbourne Cup sweep was organised by Alan Bishop, and by now we all know which horse won. Huge payouts will be dispersed soon.

 

The club was able to support the Board recommendation of a donation of $5000 to the Rotary Flood relief fund being run through District 9820 Victoria Flood Appeal. We are a very generous club.

 

Important reports from Committee chairs were tabled. Community reported that due to the risk of getting bogged in mud the concrete pour at the BBQ refurbishment is being held over for approx.. 3 weeks until the ground dries out. The Round Garden Rose Project replanting is well under way.

 

In keeping with the fun of the evening Helen Morrison ran a heads and tails event, which quite incredibly was won by Lyn Cassar, TWICE!. To cap it off Lyn won the draw in the GRUMBLE. But wait, there’s more. Lyn also won the $2 Sweep in the Melbourne Cup.

 

It was definitely her night. So this augurs well for a successful Jefferson Smith music night on
Saturday 5th November, which she has organised. Silver is the theme.

 

 

 

 

 

On Monday 7th we have Michael Lakeman from Lowanna coming to speak about the benefit the
school derives from our Rotary Foundation Scholarship. Additionally there may be committee meetings as arranged by chairs.

 

May I remind everyone to book and bring a partner plus one to the Men’s Health night. It is a club meeting night and I need numbers for catering purposes.
