Report from the Secretary

There was no dinner meeting this week as the club held its first Board meeting for the
Rotary year.
Our Chairs and Project Co-ordinators provided updates on what is happening over the next
few weeks.
Community Committee Chair, Ross, advised that the club will be serving tea and coffee on
Saturday 1 st August when the snow train arrives back in Moe around 5.30.
Around five members have already volunteered to assist on the day. Members who wish to
help in any capacity are encouraged to check in with Alan Bishop.
Treasurer Robin tabled a draft Budget for the incoming Rotary year. The fee structure for
2026–2027 was discussed and the Board’s proposal will be presented to members at Club
Assembly on Monday for consideration.
Coming up …………
The next couple of dinner meetings are expected to be smaller gatherings, with several
members away. Club Assembly, (this coming Monday) will be held as per normal.
However, for Monday, 3 August, Program Chair Roger has not booked the function room at
the Moe Hotel and has suggested that members simply enjoy a relaxed evening together in
the Bistro. President Lyn will check with members to confirm their preference.

Potential Project for Exercise Equipment in the Botanic Gardens

We are currently looking at a potential project to locate outside exercise equipment along
the pathways surrounding the children’s playground in the Botanic Gardens, with a longer
term plan to extend the number of locations in future projects if and as funding becomes
available. In order to fund this initial phase of the project, we have submitted an intention
to apply for a District Grant and we are also looking at other possible funding opportunities
to maximise the number of equipment stations we can initially include.
Communication with Latrobe City has provided information regarding requirements for the
installation of exercise equipment in open spaces in the municipality. Advice received also
indicates that this project would fit with the Latrobe City Council Public Open Spaces
Strategy. A meeting has been arranged with Council Officers to review potential locations
in the gardens for the siting of the equipment and to further clarify any additional
requirements from the Council’s perspective.
We have also been in touch with the recommended supplier of outdoor exercise equipment
(KOMPAN) for further advice and indicative costs for completion of individual exercise
stations, including the soft-fall pads required underneath the equipment.
As we gather more information and solidify plans, further advice will be provided on the
status of this exciting potential project.
