ADVANCE AUSTRALIA FAIR
Australians all let us rejoice,
For we are young and free,
We've golden soil and wealth for toil,
Our home is girt by sea,
Our land abounds in natures gifts,
Of beauty rich and rare,
In history's page, let every stage
Advance Australia Fair!
In joyful strains then let us sing,
"Advance Australia Fair!"
FOUR WAY TEST
1.
Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

probably while hurtling along on the Shinkansen to Odawara at 285kmh, sipping sake)

Stories
2018 Gippsland Rotary Golf Classic
Although we are still a week or so away from announcing the total proceeds of this year's golf classic, I can make the following observations -
Golf Committee - This year's team was outstanding in input, follow up, attending a large number of planning sessions and participation on the day of the event. I cannot praise your involvement highly enough.
Club Members - We are grateful for terrific participation in raffle sales, donation collections and willingness to assist in so many ways on the day.
Administrative Duties - As Secretary for the committee, Maureen showed the club secretary how he should be doing his job. Terrific documentation which kept club members informed and aided smooth operation of all facets of the event.
Major Raffle - The cornerstone of our success, and becoming more important as proceeds from our auctions and minor raffle dwindle slightly. Great work Helen and team.
Weather - With the course unplayable on the Sunday, then a succession of rainy and/or windy days from Tuesday onwards, we can be truly grateful for the kind weather on Monday.
Generosity - Thanks to the many Rotarians who personally contributed through gifts and purchases.
Donor Appreciation - Please advise  if a known donor has been omitted from our list (tabled last Monday evening).
Outstanding Payments - We hope to have all dues paid to Treasurer Bryon no later than next Monday.
                                                        - Rog.

Footnote: Presentations to our 3 major prize winners has taken place.
Second and third prizes were presented at Betta Home Living and first prize was delivered to Garry Dove at his house.

Reflections From 1955
  • Did you know that the Post Office is thinking about charging 7 cents to mail a letter?
  • If they raise the minimum wage to $1.00 nobody will be able to hire outside help at their store.
  • Who would have thought gas would cost 25 cents a gallon - Guess we'd be better off leaving the car in the garage.
  • Did you see some baseball players are getting $50,000 contracts just to play ball for one year.
  • It wouldn't surprise me if one day they'll be making more money than the president.
  • I never thought I'd see the day when all our kitchen appliances would be electric. They're even making electric type writers now.
  • It's too bad things are so tough nowadays. I see where a few married women are having to work.
  • I'm afraid the Volkswagen is going to open the door for a whole lot of foreign business.
  • Yes! The fast food restaurant is convenient for a quick meal, but I seriously doubt they will ever catch on.
  • There is no sense in going on short trips any more for a weekend. It costs nearly $2 a night to stay in a hotel.
  • If they think i'll pay 30 cents for a haircut, forget it!
  • Thank goodness I won't live to see the day that the government takes half our income in taxes.
