Secretary's Report
There was no dinner meeting this week, as the Club held its September Board Meeting.
Our Chairs and Project Coordinators provided updates on activities and programs scheduled
over the coming months.
Program Chair Roger advised that October will be a busy month for our Youth
commitments, with three separate programs scheduled:
RYPEN participants will join us on the first Monday, sharing their experiences from the recent camp and the impact the program has had on their confidence and leadership skills.
RJCA presentations will take place on the 2nd and 4th Mondays, providing an opportunity for students to showcase their achievements and personal development through the program.
Community Committee Chair Ross reported that the round garden bed has now been
planted with six bare rooted roses — three Joy of Life and three Joy of Health. He was joined
by past Rotarian Len Cairns and Jac and Margaret Bongers who are rose experts.
Assistant Treasurer, Diane, confirmed that our $1,000 donation to the Nepal Disaster Appeal
via RAWCS has now been processed.
Over the past few months, the Club has been in negotiations with Gippsland FM to
broadcast a series of promotional items on their station. We are pleased to confirm that all
announcements and scheduled times have now been finalised, with broadcasts set to
commence in the coming weeks.
This partnership will help strengthen our presence across the local community and support
the promotion of our projects and events. A heads Up ………………… as we move into this time of year — and with our AGM
scheduled for November — it is time for the Club to begin considering key roles for the
2027–2028 Rotary year.
A small Nominating Committee has now been formed to commence this process. Over the
coming weeks, we will be inviting members to consider taking on a role — perhaps one they
have held before, or maybe something new.
As our Club becomes smaller, it is increasingly necessary to share roles or double up where
needed. Over the past couple of years, we have successfully operated under a
shared presidency model, and this approach will again be considered for the coming years.
Your willingness to contribute, in whatever capacity you can, helps ensure our programs and
projects continue to run smoothly and remain meaningful to our community.

From the archives ............. 2010 to 2013
2010-11
The Club hosted the GSE team from District 1410 in Finland from March the 21st until the start of the District Conference on March the 25th.
Medic Alert Books were sourced and handed out to the public.
Fundraising included the Gippsland Rotary Golf Classic which raised over $18,000 and a film night held at the Village Cinema in Mid Valley which raised $1,800.
Two large ride-on cars were given to the Club that were then donated to Baringa Special School.
The installed nine street lights in the Botanic Gardens had an official “Switch the Lights on “ceremony attended by the mayor, media and Rotarians.
2011-12
The Bali project was well supported this year with four trips undertaken by Rotarians, white boards were installed in every classroom, a Library was set up and refit of the sick bay completed.
The annual Golf Day was a great success raising in excess of $28,000.
This year saw the introduction of the Vocational Service Award, with two awards presented.
The Rotunda and seating in the Botanic Gardens were repainted.
The Club responded to a request from Berry Street to erect a Cubby House for a family in need in the local community.
2012-13
Hosting of the Energy Australia’s Fun Run, with over $11,000 raised and distributed to over 10 local groups and organisations.
Support for Carols by Candlelight event.
Sponsorship of students to participate in the Rotary Youth Leadership Award, Model United Nations Assembly and Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment events.
Ongoing participation and support of the Rotary International Youth Exchange Program.
