President's Report
Monday night our guest speakers were Peter and Janet Wallis from Traralgon
Rotary Club. Peter and Janet gave a presentation on Ride for Medical Research.
This is an annual six-day event in Victoria organized by Rotary District 9815 and
will be held next February 2027.
The distance they ride is 564 kms and locations change every year.
The funds raised from this year’s ride will be directed to supporting Australian
Rotary Health and its programs. The current major focus being youth mental
health research, with grants directed to many other areas of health research.

Next Week’s program:
Our guest speaker next Monday will be Vicki Hamilton from GARDS (Gippsland
Asbestos Related Disease Support). GARDS provides vital assistance to
individuals and families affected by asbestos related disease throughout the
Gippsland region and across Victoria.
We look forward to hearing Vicki share more about the services they provide
and the important role they play in supporting our local community.

As discussed, our Club will be joining with the Rotary Club of Morwell in supporting the Morwell Proactive Policing Unit, who will be conducting the following community projects.
 
  1. Girls in Blue – Tuesday 1st September
 
As only one Rotarian from each club is required for this event, President Lyn Cassar has volunteered to attend on behalf of our Club.

A Trip Down Memory Lane
From the archives .............the late 1990's
1994-95
  • Leading the District 9820 GSE team to Missouri, USA.
  • $500 donation to Leunig and Farmer to assist their humanitarian optometry project in New Guinea.
  • Vocational Service participated in the Australia-wide Rotary employment project, to assist those seeking work in this area.  
1995-96
  • Presidential Citation achieved by the Club.
  • A number of fundraising activities were undertaken, which enabled funds to be made available to Moe Heights Scouts’ Group and Moe Scouts Group to refurbish their premises.
  • A second Probus Club was successfully established.
1996-97
  • A new Mobile Rotary Club Barbecue was designed, organized and built.
  • Community Service combined with the Rotary Club of Flemington to send a group of 30 Moe and Newborough children to the Royal Melbourne Show. 
  • Rotary wheels were installed at the Marshall Avenue Playground and Gatehouse Gardens.
  • Donations to World Community Service Australia were made for a Mobile Eye Clinic in Indonesia and, to assist movement of Donations In Kind material.
  • The Club assisted the local R.D.A. group in staging the Blue Rock Classic event.
  • Donations to Lowanna Secondary College for the “Trees for 2000” Project, the Ambulance Service for a Backing Cradle and a TV and VCR to the Moe Volunteer Blood Bank at the Latrobe Regional Hospital.
