We are off to the second week of the new Rotary year in the Rotary Club of Moe on Monday
14th July. Last week we had a club discussion about ideas on how we can offer attractive
insights into what our club does in the Moe-Newborough Community and in our Regional
and International projects to show potential new members our strengths and
dedication....so that we can offer new members something to strive for. That's the challenge
of this year. We had some great suggestions and we will all be working on progressing them.
Our focus for the year is to balance our projects across the following:
Local: We will continue to do the wonderful work we do with the Primary schools across our
large 3825 postcode area in the Rotary Junior Community Awards programme.
We will also continue our Pride of Workmanship Awards which is our annual celebration
across all our schools of students who have been great contributors to the culture and
workings of their school as great school citizens. We will also be participating in a number of
BBQs and other local activities including working in the More Rotary Botanic Gardens, one
of our longest running community projects of over 40 years.
Regional: We will be continuing to support the Gippsland Rotary Centenary House as we
have since it started. This fantastic facility offers accommodation near our regional hospital
for patients and family support member's from Gippsland homes outside the Latrobe Valley
while receiving treatment for cancer and other health issues at the LRH.
International: As all Rotary Clubs are part of the 1.4 million world members, we will
continue to support our adopted Bali Primary school, Bunutan Number 3 in Banyule as we
have over 14 years.
We always support the Rotary Foundation, our world-wide support agency (one of the
largest such funds in the world) and the campaign to End Polio.
This year we will also continue with the very successful Wheelchairs for Kids project with a
fundraiser in October.
So, a busy year for us all.
