The Rotary Club of Moe is pleased to announce a shared presidency for the 2025–2026 Rotary year.
Len Cairns will serve as President from July to December 2025, with Alan Bishop assuming the role from January to June 2026.
Together, Presidents Len and Co President Alan are united in their commitment to the Rotary International theme, “Unite for Good.”
Wheelchairs for Kids update at mid Jan 2026.
Kate and I visited South Australia in mid December to celebrate our grand daughters 2nd birthday. While there we caught up with a couple in Goolwa who have volunteered to be advocates for the chair in SA District 9510. Jan Lawrence has been endorsed in this role by her new Rotary Club, the Rotary Club of Victor Harbor. She already has 2 presentation bookings in the diary.
As we did in Moe, Jan has bought her own chair to enable her to do presentations more effectively. In addition to Victor Harbor, the Rotary Clubs of Goolwa and Glenelg also have chairs, to enable them to promote the project.
Also the Rotary Club of Mount Barker, SA, did a presentation on 1 December using material that I had supplied. It went well, and I hope to hear from their next Board meeting the level of support which might be forthcoming.
Locally, the Rotary Club of Inverloch, (Mark Humphries) borrowed our chair for display at their 3 January Rotary market. Hopefully interest/leads/donations will come from that.
Elizabeth Primary school have reiterated their interest in doing a Wheelathon in the first half of 2026. That will be a chance for the RC of Moe to engage with a local Primary school as we did with Albert St PS in June 2024.
Our present tally for 2025/26 is 29 chairs, and a total of 97 chairs since inception. I would like to get 100 chairs by the end of 25/26 year.

A lady goes to the bar on a cruise ship and orders a Scotch with two drops of water. As the bartender gives her the drink she says, "I'm on this cruise to celebrate my 80th birthday and it's today."
The bartender says, "Well, since it's your birthday, I'll buy you a drink. In fact, this one is on me."
As the woman finishes her drink, the woman to her right says,"I would like to buy you a drink, too."
The old woman says, "Thank you. Bartender, I want a Scotch with two drops of water."
"Coming up,"says the bartender.
As she finishes that drink, the man to her left says, "I would like to buy you one, too."
The old woman says, "Thank you. Bartender, I want another Scotch with two drops of water."
"Coming right up,"the bartender says. As he gives her the drink, he says, "Ma'am, I'm dying of curiosity. Why the Scotch with only two drops of water?"
The old woman replies, "Sonny, when you're my age, you've learned how to hold your liquor. Holding your water, however, is a whole other issue."
