Our land abounds in natures gifts,
Of beauty rich and rare,
In history's page, let every stage
Advance Australia Fair!
In joyful strains then let us sing,
"Advance Australia Fair!"
FOUR WAY TEST
1.
Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Len’s Log 25

Wow! We have reached halfway of the Rotary year!

A great first half, a number of changes, some small some potentially large. We will press on to have a top half year where our major fund raiser, the Charity Golf Day and associated raffle will be on again. With changes in our committee I am sure the great tradition of this event with lots of teams and many sponsors will continue. Wendy Farmer is heading up the committee on the Golf Day and we need everyone’s support to make it happen BIG!

Our Christmas event is this coming Monday 19th and we are all asked to dress up “Christmassy”, but there will only be one Santa.

We break from the 19th December till 9th January when we resume at the Botanic Gardens for our usual partners and all start to 2017!

I want to take this time to thanks all Rotarians in the Rotary Club of Moe for a great first half. We have, in the second half of the Rotary year, the challenge of bringing to out club new members, and the need to think and implement new ideas for additional fund raising for club projects to succeed.

So have a safe and celebratory Christmas and look forward to a terrific New Year for 2017.

Stories
Moe Rotary History
HISTORY OF THE ROTARY CLUB OF MOE
Year 1965-66.
President Henry Kirkwood led the Club with Brian O’Reilly once again as Secretary. Community Service was active. On the 6th August Pastor Doug Nicholls spoke to the Club regarding the plight of Aborigines - the Club donated $50 to the Aboriginal Advancement League. The Club donated $2045 to the Hospital Building Fund with the annual Jumble Sale remaining the main source of fund raising. Ten Moe Rotarians attended the District Conference at Launceston. President Henry received, on behalf of the Club, the Maffra Shield for attendance in 1964-65. Waitresses replaced Rotarian Stewards at Dinner Meetings with the Dinner Fee set at $1 per head. Copies of The Rotarian and Rotary Down Under were distributed to the City Library, Secondary School Libraries and Doctors’ Surgeries. Contact with Overseas Rotary Clubs continued with exchange of information with Rotary Clubs in Tennessee, USA and Goodwood, South Africa. During World Understanding Week a display was organised on the growth of Rotary worldwide in Rotarian Bill Langford’s window. Past President Allan McHardy was nominated to serve as District Governor of District 280 in 1968-69. Membership 45 Gained 4 Lost 7. Attendance 95.09%

President Len's Joke of the Week
The Perfect Man -
A man walks out to the street and catches a taxi just going by. He gets into the taxi, and the cabbie says, "Perfect timing. You’re just like Frank."
Passenger: “Who?"
Cabbie: "Frank Feldman. He’s a guy who did everything right all the time. Like my coming along when you needed a cab, things happened like that to Frank Feldman every single time."
Passenger: "There are always a few clouds over everybody."
Cabbie: "Not Frank Feldman. He was a terrific athlete. He could have won the Grand-Slam at tennis. He could golf with the pros. He sang like an opera baritone and danced like a Broadway star and you should have heard him play the piano. He was an amazing guy."
Passenger: "Sounds like he was really something special."
Cabbie: "There’s more. He had a memory like a computer. He remembered everybody’s birthday. He knew all about wine, which foods to order and which fork to eat them with. He could fix anything. Not like me. I change a fuse, andthe whole street blacks out. But Frank Feldman could do everything right."
Passenger: "Wow, what a guy!"
Cabbie: ‘He always knew the quickest way to go in traffic and avoid traffic jams. Not like me, I always seem to get stuck in them. But Frank, he never made a mistake, and he really knew how to treat a woman and make her feel good. He would never answer her back even if she was in the wrong; and his clothing was always immaculate, shoes highly polished too. He was the perfect man! He never made a mistake. No one could ever measure up to Frank Feldman."
Passenger: "How did you meet him?"
Cabbie: “I never actually met Frank. He died and I married his wife.
