Robin's Rambles #34

Ostensibly a quiet week, as we had no meeting.

But I know that members have been very busy preparing for the golf day, selling raffle tickets and continuing the BBQ shelter build. Plus the other areas of activity with Rotary Junior Community Award information sessions, Foundation Grants and consideration of overseas projects.

Thank you to all for your ongoing support.

I also had the pleasure of inducting the President of the Probus Club of Moe on Wednesday 15 March. A bit weird, as I am also a member of that club, so it involved an off stage costume change at morning brew. I was then ready to perform official duties.

Di Harrison is off to Japan shortly, and we wish her a wonderful trip to see the cherry blossom. We also look forward to hearing good reports from Helen MacDonald when she returns from her trip to South Korea, and from Sandy when she returns from Israel.

I look forward to seeing you on Monday 20th at the RSL for the important briefing meeting before the golf day. Roger and Maureen have advised me that we nearly have a full field of teams. A wonderful achievement. Please come and be ready to put up your hands to assist as much as possible.

GOLF UPDATE

Just 1 more week to go before GRGC'23.

The plan is to finalise manpower roles for the day and distribute this list to club members tonight.
In my absence, the golf day update will be provided by the committee members on 20th March

Rotary International Melbourne Convention 2023

Volunteers are needed!!

A vital part of a successful convention is to have an engaged and energised volunteer team to assist all visitors during the Convention.

We wish to include volunteers from all ages and backgrounds and create a diverse team.

Volunteers may be Rotarians or Non Rotarians - we encourage family and friends and all likeminded people - to be part of this wonderful opportunity to showcase Rotary and Melbourne.

Represent Australia at Rotary’s biggest event of the year!

Dear Rotarian
The Rotary International Convention is the biggest event of the year and it’s coming to us in Australia, 27-31 May. Thousands of Rotary members and Rotaractors from across the globe will be arriving in Melbourne, giving us a tremendous opportunity to welcome, network and learn from fellow people of action.  Let’s show our Australian spirit while enjoying the extraordinary convention that will feature notable speakers, energising breakout sessions, and ample opportunities to brainstorm ideas for Doing Good in the World. Among the speakers and learning opportunities scheduled:

• Keynote speaker Leymah Gbowee, Nobel Peace laureate from Liberia

• Climate activist Nakeeyat Dramani Sam of Ghana

• Breakout sessions on leadership, membership, service and projects, the environment, public image, and more

Whether we're on the convention floor, in the House of Friendship, or at one of the exciting events planned by the Host Organising Committee, the 2023 Rotary convention is the ideal place to share ideas and expertise. It’s also our chance to be a champion for Rotary in Australia and make an impact that lasts far beyond four days in Melbourne.   So register today for savings! The reduced rate expires 31 March.
