This week’s ‘Lyn’s Letter’ has been scribed by Di Harrison on behalf of Lyn.
President Lyn’s laptop is undergoing a software upgrade and is out of action.
Greetings everyone!
Thank you to everyone who braved the cold weather and attended the official opening of the BBQ Shelter Centennial Project on Friday.
Cr. Brad Law together with President Lyn, cut the beautifully tied blue ribbon to ceremonially proclaim the shelter open.
(Cr. Sharon Gibson was an apology). Rotarians and key supporters/contributors of the shelter upgrade were present and their contributions were again recognised by Project Lead, Barry Dunstan and Foreman, Alan Bishop. Both Barry and Alan were commended for their involvement which resulted in a wonderful community asset being established in the Moe Botanic Gardens.
Many thanks to Ross Maxfield for organising the BBQ on the day and all present enjoyed the lunch provided.
(See pictures below)
Earlier in the week on Monday night, we had special guests from Wangaratta attend the Business Excellence Awards, organised by Youth/Vocation Chair, Rog Taylor. Special presentations, recognising their significant contributions to the Moe Business community were made to Adele Pugsley (V/Line) and Maddi King (Turfside Bistro, Moe Racing Club).
Nomination quote about Adele:
‘…she is friendly, helpful, always courteous and considerate and often goes beyond her duties…’
Nomination quote about Maddi:
‘…having eaten at the club many times she has been there, she is always the same: helpful,
courteous, interested, and also seems to have her crew working alongside with her…’
A great night for both Adele, and Maddi who was supported by family members (sister, mum, and dad). A huge thank you to Rog and his committee for all the work done behind the scenes.
This week we have special guests from the Rotary Club of Noble Park-Dingley, led by DG nominee, Peter Behm. He will be leading the newly-formed D9815 which will comprise of over 80 clubs and 2000 members.
Reading through his bio I can see he is well-qualified to lead such a large group!
Currently, he is a freelance marketing executive and focuses on business improvement strategies, event management and OH&S practices. He has held high-level executive positions in AAMI, Suncorp and Flood Restoration Australia.
Peter is very much looking forward to visiting our club, together with some fellow Rotarians and their partners, so I seek support from Moe Rotarians to please come along on Monday night to meet Peter and his companions.
A couple of dates and activities for your diaries:
1. Uniform De-Badging Effort

Bring a camp chair and un-picking device.

I am very excited that Lowanna College have entered a delegation and will represent Brazil. Strong advocate for Rotary and Moe Rotarians, AP Michael Lakeman from Lowanna College, will be supporting the team on Saturday. All Moe Rotarians are invited along to the BBQ dinner ($5 per person) to see awards and prizes presented from 5.15pm onwards. Members are very welcome to attend the Model Assembly throughout the day. Four resolutions will be debated by the 26 UN-member nations. Should be a fairly lively day!!
On behalf of Lyn, I wish a speedy recovery to Rotarians who are recovering from illness/operations and for those members who are travelling the high seas or the low roads in and around Australia, safe travels!
That’s all for now.

Yours in Rotary,
Di Harrison
