Hi Everyone,

Last Tuesday night I attended the Rotary Club of Manningham City who were hosting Brother Olly Pickett. Olly shared all of his success over the 26 years.

Olly Pickett grew up in Melbourne and attended Parade College in East Melbourne along with his brother. Following this Olly entered the Christians Brothers Ministry. In 1996 Olly was teaching in Perth running a course for youth being taught tradesmen skills. This course was backed by Rotary
Club of Scarborough which then asked Olly to involve production of some wheel chairs for kids in developing nations.

The original wheel chairs were made from recycled BMX bicycle parts and were very basic about 15 years ago. Olly assisted Motivation Australia in South Australia to create the World Health compliant design for fully adjustable wheelchair. They produce 3,500 chairs per year. Since 1996 they have
dispatched 61,632 chairs.
On the night DG Colin Byron district 9815 and DG elect 9800 (Graeme Hope) were in attendance. They also had a number of generous donations totaling $2,775 enough for 10-wheelchairs, also Manningham Rotary donated $3,000 taking the total to $5,775 enough for 21-wheel chairs.
I enjoyed the night listening to all of Olly’s achievements over the years.

That’s all For Now
