WE GIVE THANKS
ADVANCE AUSTRALIA FAIR
Australians all let us rejoice,
For we are young and free,
We've golden soil and wealth for toil,
Our home is girt by sea,
Our land abounds in natures gifts,
Of beauty rich and rare,
In history's page, let every stage
Advance Australia Fair!
In joyful strains then let us sing,
"Advance Australia Fair!"
FOUR WAY TEST
1.
Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Len’s Log 33

Last week we saw a Club Assembly night with many extra elements. Two prospective new members visiting us for the first time, three students and three parents as well as a teacher from Lowanna College and a guest speaker on wine!

Some of the usual Club Assembly features had to be carried over due to timing restrictions on a crowded night and we will have a report on important financial matters and Board decisions at our next meeting.

We have a busy time ahead in the next three weeks. The Golf Day, a public holiday and a looming visit off site and a possible breakfast meeting on our schedule.

The Food situation has improved with better timing of the service and we have discussed the menu again with Ashlee from the RSL.

Florian is with us this coming week after a BBQ at Bruce Paull’s home on Friday night.

New Year Resolutions and Thoughts
# May all your troubles last as long as your New Year's resolutions.

      # I hereby resolve not to catch fire while riding a flaming hoverboard...again!

# Dear God. My prayer for 2017 is a FAT bank account and a THIN body.
 - please don't mix it up like you did last year.

      # I want to get so drunk that if vampires bit my neck, they'd get a bloody Mary.

# REMEMBER - You can reset your resolutions on January 14 (Orthodox New Year) and February 8 (Chinese New Year).
After that, even I can't help you!

Moe Rotary History
HISTORY OF THE ROTARY CLUB OF MOE
Year 1971-72
Allan Ormond was President and Jack Skelton Secretary. The Board reluctantly increased the Annual Subscription to $24 per year. Community Service had an active year with a further 150 trees planted in Lloyd Street. Community Service Chairman, Neil Tresidder, thanked the Moe Thirds Football Club and the City Council for their assistance with the tree planting. A Paddy’s Market was organised at the Moe Trade Fair and proved most successful, both financially and in terms of fellowship. A band of Rotarians, led by Tom Allen, painted the interior of Sunny Creek School at Old Gippstown while a fellowship meeting was held on the banks of the Latrobe River – Did anyone end up in the drink? Vocational Service arranged for” two fine lads “from Moe to attend the RYLA Camp.
Internationally the Club was most active. Brian Handley spoke to the Club, after his return from his year as a Foundation Technical Training Awardee in Kansas, giving Moe Rotarians an appreciation of International Youth Programs sponsored by Rotary. In March a tour was arranged for a visiting American Group Study Exchange Team. The Club had two students involved in the New Zealand Youth Exchange Scheme and completed the program to send bicycles to Rabaul, New Guinea, which had commenced in 1970-71. Ten bicycles were successfully dispatched. The Club through PDG Allan McHardy, arranged for Moe Plumber, Eric Tabuteau, to become a member of a FAIM team working on a project in New Guinea. Membership 41 Gained 7 Lost 8 Attendance 92.18%.

Nathan's Joke of the Week
Two guys were drinking in  a bar.
The first one said, "Did you know that lions have sex 10 to 15 times a day?"
"Aw darn!" said his friend.
"And to think I just joined Rotary!"
