Len Cairns spoke on behalf of this year's team, and ably assisted by his power-point presentation, informed us of the following-
- Our school is Bunatan No. 3 School (one of six in the local area)
- The school currently has 210 students, with 203 present on the date of our visit
- 2017 is the ninth year of our club's support, commencing in 2019-10
- Bunatan is a poor fishing village surrounded by volcanic land and rocky beaches
- (The troublesome Mt. Argung volcano, which threatened to cancel this year's visit, is just 15 km away)
- All students now wear school uniform, and their respectful greeting is very touching
2017 Involvement - we delivered second-hand spectacles with various sight combinations, donated by Thrifty, and provided 210 sports uniforms. Maintenance work included repairs to the boys' toilet flushing systems, replacement of doors to the girls toilets, and distribution of a variety of stationery items.
It was pleasing to note that previous works to ceiling fans and white boards installation, upgrades to the sick bay and other minor issues were all in good condition.
Current school principal, Wayan, was very appreciative and complimentary of the involvement provided by the Rotary Club of Moe.
