Thanks to all concerned, our 21st golf day was another unqualified success.
Sponsorship didn't really vary much from previous years, we had a capacity field, raffle sales were solid, and there was an excellent attendance of players, sponsors and Rotarians at the afternoon and evening activities.
The committee made all our initial plans from December through February, with the cloud of COVID restrictions hanging darkly over us. We had various plans regarding social distancing, dining options, golf field sizes, program formats for golf and evening presentations etc but fortunately we were able to conduct our event (minus auctions) closely resembling that of previous years.
I am writing a more comprehensive report which will be shared with members on Monday night. As Irene and I are heading to Pinnacle Valley on Sunday, this will be read out by Di or Maureen..
Because we self-catered this year, we did have some new considerations, but having a catering manager overseeing the purchasing and kitchen operation, we still had control (mostly) over the feeding of the masses. I was very pleased, in fact, with how the whole event went off, and general feedback was once again very positive.
The final profit will be announced on Monday. Helen is completing her reconciliation this weekend. At the outset, we stated that whatever proceeds are raised this year, it would be an amazing result, purely because of the uncertainty surrounding the event.
Another issue this year was our irregular physical meetings, both at club and golf committee levels, due to the restrictions. I'm especially appreciative of all the committee who responded to requests for assistance from time to time, despite not having a lot of face to face discussion.
As always, Moe Rotary Club commits to a whole club effort where practicable, and Rotarians truly stood up on the day to portray Service in Action. I hope that you all feel as pleased as we on the planning committee do, regarding the final outcome.
