Image In August 2013 we had a representative from the Rotary Club of Mitchell River visit our club and gave a presentation on the Rotary Junior Community Awards program.

Our committee decided that this program would be a great project to share with our local schools and information was sent out to local schools in Moe.

I am pleased to advise that Elizabeth Street Primary School decided to participate in the program and it was launched with an information session at the school held by Lorna Hawkey from Mitchell River Rotary Club and myself with the 16 Grade 6 students and their teachers.

The students have to complete four areas of activities: Community Service, Physical Recreation, Skills and Social Experience and maintain a diary of their experience.

In order to assist the students in the Social Experience section, we have arranged for students to attend our weekly meeting and give a report on their project to date.

The program will finish in October, where their diaries are collected and marked by Rotarian volunteers.  Our club will then organise a presentation for the students where they will receive certificates for their participation.
