The VPLMP has been conducted annually since 2008, in association with Victorian business leaders and Rotary Central Melbourne. This 3 way partnership successfully delivers the mentoring program for police members who are considered to be high performing leaders within their field. Since its inception the program has provided valuable personal and professional development experiences to more than 230 Victoria Police members and to their mentors, who regularly report they gained as much as their mentees.

This was certainly the case for me during the past 12 months a I have worked alongside Snr. Sgt. Peter Fusinato. Clearly Peter has all the credentials for further advancement as on 3 occasions during the past year, he has worked as Acting Inspector, firstly at Morwell, then South Coast (based at Wonthaggi) and he is just about to commence at Baw Baw (based in Warragul.)

The reason that I was an apology at the GRCH program last week, is due to the fact that Peter and I attended the sunrise meeting of Melbourne Central Rotary Club, along with 14 other mentor/mentee teams from metropolitan and regional Victoria. The gathering was the culmination of this year's program, where certificates of acknowledgement were given to all participants. I was asked to reflect on my experience as a mentor, with Peter representing all of the mentees.
The entire program , and especially the graduation, made me extremely proud to be a Rotarian representing the Moe club, and I really enjoyed our monthly coffee catch ups, along with the various formal programs conducted at either the Victoria Police Academy (Glen Waverley), the Airlie Leadership Development Centre (South Yarra) or this week's breakfast at the RACV City Club.

Peter Fusinato will re-visit our club on October 29 to thank us for our support and report on the project which he is implementing here in Moe. The Warragul Rotary Club were keen to do an Inter-Club visit to Moe, and so their members will also be in attendance for that program.
